Guest guest
Hi, Your symptoms are not uncommon. It takes a while to heal from this surgery. Many of us can feel the hardness above their scar. And it can take months for the nerves to heal and lessen the numbness. No doubt your doc knows you want children and used methods to help control adhesions and scarring. Ask your doc any questions that you have. You are not alone in your symptoms. Also, how long till all the numbness goes away?

Guest guest
Sorry there wasn't a reply sooner Rashida A source of info on these sorts of questions is that 'What your doctor may not tell you book by Goodwin,Broder? and Drum with the red and white cover. My tummy is firmer too. Obviously mention anything worrying you at appointments. There will be a ridge above the external incision bcause of inside cutting. See a doctor about any increase in tenderness or fluid leaking from the wound. If that happens it might be a sign of infection, but not neccessarily. Keep the area clean with toiletries you can trust not to give you an allergic reaction. Don't prod your tummy too much and remember that it's weaker inside than it looks externally while it heals, so err on the side of caution in allowing it to heal. No heavy lifting for ages. With any luck the surgeons will have done whatever is currently deemed the best means of avoiding problems like adhesions. <Is there anything I should ask my Dr. about?> Here are some posibles.... When is it OK to (Whatever) again? (Go on a long trip / drive / sex and resuming birth control & best type / resuming other medications / trying to conceive / exercise / weight carrying etc.) Were past blood tests OK ? Should you be eating certain foods more? Checking out any supplments you take are advisable Don't worry about the numbness as ithis is one of the last symptoms to go away and the book I mentioned above suggested as much as 6 months to a year. I think my numbness has improved since November 2003 and I was operated on in Aug 2003. The tingling may well be a good sign of nerves coming back to life or some other aspect of healing. I really wouldn't worry about that. Aztek
