,

Thank God everyone is OK! What a scare! I was frightened just reading along.

I understand your sick feeling and your shock. You really didn't need that

on top of everything else that's going on right now.

I'm hoping that 's surgery is 100% successful today. I'm think about

you and yours and will be anxious to read about what happened.

Please take care,

  • 7 years later...

Hi ,

thanks for this info... i must remember it in case i have to get my joints

replaced. my knees are going downhill fast. i'm sorry that this is causing you

problems - it would be awful to have to go back and get the metal joints

replaced.

what i want to know is, if some of the joints are replaced, what happens to the

disease (RA) ? does it look for other places to take up residence in the body ?

Leonie

rheumatic You won't believe this

Hi again,

I just had two hip replacements, metal on metal resurfs. After surgery I was

not feeling well,

not recovering as fast as normal etc.. My doc ran some bloodwrk and my CRP and

RF were

positive.

I recently awoke to stiff/swollen (slightly) hands and rehummy said I have RA.

Okaay....I

thought the timing was strange. I googled metal implants and inflamm. disease,

up pops a

lot of literature on problems with metal implants in people with chronic

inflammation. I plan

to investigate this further and see if perhaps the removal of the implant

could relieve my

symptoms.

Leonie,

Just google it. One woman was still put on DMARDS. One man had his knees

removed and

was fine afterward. It depends I think. What bothers me is that basically

metal is

unhealthy in people with chronic inflammation. I don't think I should have had

these hips

installed to begin with.

You know, this was one of my first investigations... because I have

screws, and a plastic piece & who knows what all from various

surgeries. I don't have the answer.... I just wanted to say that I

understand your thinking.
