Guest guest
Well happy weekend to all. Jai hoping you don't break any more bones. I never heard of someone having osteoporis (sp?) at 30. Hi Laurie, Unfortunately osteoporosis can become evident with RSD in stage 2. (I copied and included the stages from a RSD site.) I've been in stage 3 since year 2000 so the osteoporosis is pretty advanced in me. I take a med called Actonel which is similar to Fosamax. I could not take the Fosamax it tore up my G. I. Tract. I am scared for the future if it is this bad already. I try to do all the things they tell you to do for healthy bones like vitamins calcium, weight bearing exercises and the med. For anyone with RSD it is so important to be aware that getting osteoporosis is very likely especially if you are female. I hope you are having a great day!!!!! Take care, Love Jai Stage 1 - Duration of weeks to months. The limb has nonfocal pain, swelling with associated joint stiffness and decreased range of motion, and increased skin temperature. Stage 2 - Duration of 3-6 months. Pain continues but decreases over time. Swelling evolves into thickening of the dermis and fascia. Early signs of atrophy and osteoporosis become evident, and the extremity becomes cooler. Stage 3 - Atrophic stage. Pain continues and atrophy is exacerbated by continued decreased range of motion and increased joint stiffness. The extremity is cooler with decreased vascularity.
