Guest guest
This made me think about my own blood tests. Before I was diagnosed with diabetes, they always had to take blood for a fasting lab out of the back of my hand because they could not find a vein in my arm. Since the diganoses, there is no trouble getting blood out of my arm. I don't understand this, but I sure am glad they don't have to use back of the hand anymore. When that happens to me and I feel they don't know what they are doing I ask for someone else to do it. It's my body and I'm not going to let someone just dig around with a needle in a vein if they can't find it. They can do more damage. You can always refuse and say get someone else. I found that out the hard way when in the hospital. They have new people who learn as they go along and sometimes don't want to ask for help or admit they can't do it. Anyone experienced can do a hard to find vein. That's my suggestion if you have a problem ask for an expert. We always have a right to refuse if they are hurting us. They usually keep trying until or unless you protest.
