Guest guest
I DID IT!!!!!!!! Ladies, I just came home from the hosp. Had my open myo on Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. Let me first give thanks to all of your ladies who gave me the courage and determination to go through this. To name a few who have kept in contact with me.....Ku, ,Cindy, , Jen D, gg, SC, Giselle, Diane and Joyce. I know I have probably left a few out. Right now I am able to sit at the computer desk and my hubby is vigilantly watching over me. To tell you a little about the surg............I went to the hosp at 5:30 a.m. on Monday. Was wheeled to pre-op and by 7:00 a.m. they were giving me the pre-op nausea cocktail and Versed for my anxiety. The last thing I remember is my surgeon Dr. Zinaman saying " we are going to take good care of you and God will with be with us " The next thing I was aware of was hearing " one, two, three and being put on a gurney to be taken to recovery. " OUCH, OUCH, OUCH " At this point I was very groggy and could not focus too well but heard lots of reassuring voices telling me everything went well, and the resident putting a picture of the fibroids in front of my face. I tried but could not focus too well just saw a few big blobs on a white looking cloth. I will be getting copies at my post op. appt. Doc said they removed 7 fibroids. The two largest were in the fundas. His exact words were " they were in the catchers mitt right where the baby would be " These were the easiest to get out. There was another next larger one that was a little more difficult to get out due to being punducluated (sp). The remainder were in the lower uterine segment. All in all he said everything went routine. There were a few tiny beginnings of fibroids and he told us her burned them off. I had no noted bleeding outside the normal. Now let me move on to first day post op. The nursing staff at my hospital in L & D were horrendous to say the least. I got no response or care from them. They let my foley bag get over full and back up. Never came around unless they were called. It was unbelievable. I heard later that they were short staffed. Thank God my husband, mother and mother - in- law were all around or I would have laid there and rotted. First day was not bad, I was hooked up to morphine drip, and other IV drip. They did not get me up to walk any time the first day. I actually felt good I guess because of the pain meds. Day two was a different story. Major nausea and pain. I got out of the bed a few times and pushed myself to walk. I won't lie, the pain was EXCRUCIATING! But here I am day 2 1/2 (day three) and much better. I took a shower and washed my hair. Needed help getting undies on. I have only taken the Darvacet twice since this morning. The nausea is finally gone. I do feel a little flushed in the face, not sure why. But overall I am doing well. Getting in and out of bed is touch but I have hubby who can hold all of my weight helping me. I ate some for the first time today A baked potato and some jello and a little roast beef. I have to say I would do this all over again. I looked at the little picture that was taken of my still born son on May 15th and told him the monsters that killed you are gone!!! Somehow it made me feel good. Thank you again and if anyone has any questions please feel free to email me off line. The value of all of your input has been priceless. My husband has also expressed his gratitude to you all. You have helped me to persevere through this whole ordeal. I can't thank you all enough!!!!! Love, in Chicago

Guest guest
- Hey, CONGRATULATIONS!!! It's only up from here. You may be running a slight fever - this is not uncommon, apparently, after a myomectomy. Keep an eye on it and call your doctor IMMEDIATELY if it goes over 100.5. Sounds like you had a good doctor and a stressed nursing staff. I definitely recommend to anyone with a surgery coming up that you have someone who can advocate and nag for you nearby the day of and the day after your surgery. , take good care of yourself, and best wishes for a speedy recovery!
