Sounds like your blood sugar was too low. Did you use your meter and see what it was? sky

Guest guest
OK, what may have happened is that you are usually higher than that but had your level drop suddenly for whatever reason. That will give the symptoms of hypoglycemia, which are much like drunkenness in some cases. As a matter of opinion, I think the reason it seems alike is that both hypoglycemia and being drunk may cause the same problem, not enough glucose reachingg the brain to keep it working right. Alcohol suppresses the liver's output of glucose while it's busy clearing out the alcohol, so the result is the same. Ted Quick --- Rosemary Markham wrote: > Dear Sky, > > yes, I did. It was 126. It's also not very low, which is what I was thinking your BG's might have been. So maybe it was just you feeling extra groggy or experiencing a bit of postural vertigo. sky

I never thought of that! Thanks for the insight, Ted. To the original poster whose post I deleted, I sometimes feel drunk on awakening if I have changed any of my before-bed medications. You didn't mention whether or not you take any, so I don't know if it applies. And on a couple of occasions, I felt drunk/drugged on awakening due to what I ate just before bed - turned out to be a food sensitivity, and I just needed to avoid that food. -- el (andreafrankel at sbcglobal dot net) " wake now! Guest guest
Any type of Cortizone will Skyrocket your BG. Make sure you let your Dr, know you are Diabetic, and ask what you can do when taking these shots, to keep your BG under control... This is just as important as helping keep pain in track. ~~TINA~~ -- a question I found out on Thursday that my left shoulder has a bone spur. I'm hurting very badly and am afraid I'm going to have to get a cortisone shot some time soon. I was wondering if this type of shot would have a major affect on my blood sugars and how long this problem with raising blood sugar will last. Also, does any one have any great ideas of temporary relief of this type of thing? My Doctor put me on Celebrex on Monday and it helped for a few days and now I'm back with the same amount of pain I had on Monday. Thanks for any advice.
