Guest guest Posted April 21, 2004 Report Share Posted April 21, 2004 Hi! I am a new member. I have been newly diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease. I just had some tests done today to determine which one. I am a 28 year old single mom. I have 2 children, Zachariah who is 7 and Rose who is 3. I am not very knowledgeable about this disease, it's treatment options or the progression. I am unable to work, unable to walk up a second story flight of stairs, unable to pick up my daughter and do many other things that I was once able to do. For years the doctors thought I may have had MS or Lupus, but they really didn't know. I have been to Cleveland Clinic (which is were I was told that I might have Mito) and I am now seeing a doctor at University Hospital in Cleveland who diagnosed me just a few weeks ago. My purpose for joining the group is to learn about the disease and also to meet others who share in this agony with me. I also have questions regarding where to find a Mito specialist (I know there are not many) and what to expect as far as further testing goes. It's nice to meet everyone!
