Guest guest
Sheila, I know how beautiful the clift walk in Newport is and I'm glad you could at least see it's beauty despite suffering such difficult physical feelings. I do think that you pushed your condition over the edge (not literally) and it will take some time for your body to recover from the extra exertion. If you talked to Dr Korson about this (which I think you should do), I am fairly sure he would tell you that this is symptomatic of what you suspect - Mito. Something that we all realize is that the symptoms don't always come on all at once. They can seemingly creep up on you when you least expect it. You may need to get yourself checked at a doctor's office as the experience may have weakened your respiratory system and you could need some attention there. A good cardiac workup could be needed as well. I don't think the weight issue alone should have caused you to have such a severe episode. These are things Dr Korson would be able to tell you. Can you e mail him or fax him to get some advice? He'll be chatting with us on May 17th. at the MDA site if you haven't been able to touch base before then. Sounds like the weather must be nice there in RI if you attempted this over the weekend. Alice This time scared me. I never felt quite like this. Now I think I am getting a cold or severe allergies. My throat and chest don't feel well. That may have contributed to the bad experience as well.....who knows. I just know that I will NEVER do the cliff walk again! It was very pretty though, that is what I saw in between feeling like I was DYING!It is on the water and there are mansions everywhere. Very nice Sheila
Guest guest
I am glad to see discussion on this again. I started out my posts here with describing my situation. I have had success in increasing my muscle strength by weight lifting. I do it very controlled, 3 times a week, with a different muscle group each time. So, I do each muscle group once a week. When I do it, i follow weight lifters' protocols, which I got out if the " Mr Muscle " type magazines. It took me a while to figure out what I can do, but I feel it is worth it for me, because I got some strength back, which I had thought was totally impossible. When i do lift, I use weights that are the heaviest possible, and still do about 3 sets of 10 reps each set. My muscles get quite sore 24-48+ hours afterwards, but it is the kind of soreness that comes from expercise, and I know it will go away again. I am careful to keep notes what I do each time, and I can see that I can do the same thing or heavier next time, so I feel from time to time I know I have not hurt myself. Over the course of months I see that i really have increased my ability. Can do things I could not do before. It does take time to see this though. Also, when I dont lift for a few weeks (vacation, etc) I lose my strength faster than is normal. Am still working on it. I also use creatine and protein supplements, and can tell that they help also. We have said many times that we are all different. I dont recommend this to anyone. Just sharing my experience for what it is worth. Am willing to go into more detail if anyone is interested. I AM sure though, that it has helped me. Positive of that. Sunny > Sheila > > I was told that they are now recommending moderate exercise at a time > when > it is possible to do so without a crash. Guest guest
Sheila I have fairly severe air hunger. I am over-weight, but the docs feel it is mito related. I wish I could do stairs-3 are almost too many. I am being worked up by a pulmonologist who thinks that my sleep apnea is entering into the mix as well. I am scheduled for another sleep study and pulmonary testing. I had a work up several years ago. It was basically normal except for some values almost never seen except with mito. laurie > From: Smz143@... > Reply-To: > Date: Tue, 20 Apr 2004 06:27:49 EDT > To: > Subject: Re: Is this Mito normal... > > Well Laurie, > > I also need to lose weight. Guest guest
Well, now I am really confused. I am sick. I have an appointment today with my PCP. I have laryngitis and a little chest congestion. I had strept throat in Feb, and want to make sure that has not come back. So done now. Guest guest
Sheila, When we are in a crash, our immune system isn't able to fight things off as well either, so you may have picked up a new bug or not gotten totally rid of the previous one. Along with the PCP visit, rest, eat healthy, rest, eat healthy, rest, eat healthy.......... You get the idea. Hugs, Smz143@... wrote: >Well, now I am really confused. >I am sick.
