In twelve step programs, folks often speak of their having considered themselves *terminally unique* before starting the program --- in other words, they think that they are the ONLY people who have ever had certain thoughts or done certain things. They find out that, under the skin, we are more alike than different. Having many years of 12-step experience behind me, I am not as surprised now as I would have been in the past to see my very words coming to me in a post written by an Ohioan whom I've never met. So good to meet you as well as all the list newcomers.
