Guest guest
Well I can tell you my horror story, it is even worse than the years of mistreatment with my thyroid! When I was 25 I started having pain in my lower left abdomen. Went to the ER a couple times it was so bad, they said painful ovulation. Went to my GP when I was 26 he thought I had an intestine ready to rupture sent me to proctologist... GGGRRRR Sigmoidoscopy later, nothing there... (worst test I ever had in my LIFE) went to gyno.. he said I might have an ovarian cyst, wrote on my chart to admit to hospital for laparoscopy. Then asked if I had insurance. Nope... He crossed THAT off my chart and sent me home. Told me to take aspirin for the pain and spike fevers I was having & if it wasn;t better in a month to come back! I went next day and bought BC/BS health plan. Went to a different gyno who put me in the hospital next day. Supposed to be laparoscopy, but I had him draw the release for hyst before putting me under. He says, no way it will come to that, you're too young, but he humored me & I signed the release. I woke up to everything gone. I was walking around for two YEARS with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease! This can KILL you!!! I tried to sue the first Gyno.. Had the lawyers do all the pre-trial stuff, 20 months later they said we were ready to go to trial. Two weeks later they called and said I did not have a meritorious case & they were dropping me. Paid off? I think so! 2 years statute of limitations ran out. think I should ever trust a doctor again? *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
I've heard several times that if you take a drug less than 20 yrs old, you are taking your life into your own hands. That is one scary statement. Each time a company comes up with a 'new improved drug', there is more cost, insurance won't cover it, and I'd love to know who is approving these drugs that are supposed to make us feel better, yet do so much harm? My son was recently watching a show where the dr openly admitted that there are some treatments that work, that are never offered to people, because of lack of insurance, etc. The dr won't even suggest some things because he knows the patient does not have the resources to purchase, and in the end, it's the dr's call. I shouldn't have sat with my mouth hanging open like I did when he told me this story, but when you think about dr's, they are merely pushing the stuff that the pharmaceutical companies are saying works 'best'. Some of those drugs are also shown to be no better than one made years before that no longer had a patent where they can charge full price. I watch documentary's myself, and have seen physicians who get fed up with it, and actually spill the beans on these so called 'new and improved drugs that don't even work as good as the older drugs, but they are handed out because 'somebody' said it was better and the FDA approved it. If a pharmaceutical company can check to see what a dr is prescribing, that is another scary thought. Big brother in it's highest form. We won't even mention what the 'perks' are for prescribing the 'new' stuff to patients that the dr benefits from. That one really makes me wanna choke a dr! or drug rep, whichever is handy! Grrrrr! SandyE~Houston Re: Big Brother Because of abuses the medical community has done to people going on for decades, it would seem that not very many take their oaths to " do no harm " very seriously. I remember a news show about black men who had syphylis and weren't told or given proper treatment so they could be " studied " until the end of their lives as to how they fared!!! When this finally came to light, many of the men were dead. I think the surviving members of the families were given some kind of piddley dollar amount settlement. Ever since the Phen-Fen recall I am leary of any new drugs. (I was on it for a year and a half) The FDA (government!) is not going to protect you. The big money drug companies have a lot of pull and influence on our government. It pisses me off that those of us who wish to self treat our thyroid conditions with an all natural product have to struggle for a resource to buy it OURSELVES because the medical community is so uneducated, stubborn and uninformed. I remember asking my nurse practitioner 2 years ago why I was prescribed synthroid, and not something else--(I knew about the recalls). She said because " it was the best! " )!!! No one in the office including a NURSE there who took synthroid knew about the recall. Back then I didn't know enough to argue with her. I am arguing now. Enough ranting for today! I woke up to everything gone this reminds me that about 8 years ago i had a doctor schedule me for laproscopy for ovarian cysts. The morning of the surgery...I called the hospital and cancelled...for the very reason you described - i was afraid I would wake up with a hysterectomy. I went to another doctor who said it was okay for me to take a wait and see attitude. I waited. 8 years later...the ovarian cysts have disappeared. that was the third surgery I have canceled. one was for surgery on my vocal cords because of HOARSENESS back when I was in my late 20s. The doc said I had nodules on my vocal cords. I just canceled it...said no thank you. Hoarseness...hmmm...now what is that a symptom of ? Hashimoto's perhaps? dang doctors. cindi

Guest guest
YOU, Sister, are singing my song. Our choir is growing all the time. I personally think that, between the pharma companies, doctors who are prostituted by them, and the FDA, a.k.a., government, are frankly all doing each other and paying each other for it. Not the tv series, but the older book written by Haley, Strong Medicine, tells this same story, and he saw it way back then. Wasn't that book written in the 80s or maybe even earlier? It was a winner. Re: Re: Big Brother > > I've heard several times that if you take a drug less than 20 yrs old, you are taking your life into your own hands. That is one scary statement. Guest guest
Well we know Armour is over 100 years old but what about naturethroid? (I think Thyrolar is from the 50's.) Louise PS I'm still puzzled why they pulled Vioxx off the market. I mean look at all the warnings that come with birth control pills. Any medication can be dangerous. > I've heard several times that if you take a drug less than 20 yrs old, you are taking your life into your own hands. That is one scary statement.
