Guest guest
Hi friends I thought I would share my past week-end. My son who lives in Albany, New York was here for the week, staying with various friends. We got our signals crossed, so I didn't get to see him off and say good-bye. Not what I wanted, but not the end of the world. I was staying with my other son's dog from Fri, afternoon to Mon. morning. On Sunday, I was lazy in the morning and stayed in my nightgown. Around noon I was going to take a shower, but decided to let the dog out and bring her back in before doing so. No big deal - I'd done it many times. As I was putting her on the lead at the front door, she saw a dog across the street and pulled away from me and headed across the street. Then she went into the middle of the street and stood there. Of course, she doesn't come when I call her. I ran into the guest room and pulled off my nightgown and pulled on some sweats I had worn on Sat.. Of course, I didn't take time to put on underwear or shoes. After the help of the man across the road, he caught her and brought her across the street to hook onto her lead. Then came the good part. I was locked out of the house. I had no cell phone, no money, no credit card, no car keys - just a mito body that doesn't work well and a big dog. It turned out that my rental car was unlocked, so I decided the best solution was to stay in the car until my son and daughter in law returned Mon. evening. I had blankets in my trunk and several jackets in the back seat. I stayed warm and kept the dog warm, so other than no meds and no food, we were going great, except for my feet that just wouldn't warm up. The neighbor who helped catch the dog called the police so they came to see if I was okay. I really thought he thought I was nuts and that I may not even belong in that driveway. My son and daughter-in-law returned before he even left. Then I found out that everyone from the school was looking for me. I had no way to contact them without trying to walk a block and I really didn't think I could do that, especially with no meds or food. I thought they would think I double booked and would just run my IEP meetings. They did that, but also called around and had everyone worried. It is nice to know that I have so many people concerned about me, but I sure felt guilty. The only problem was people telling me that I should have done this or that. They were not thinking about a mito body trying to do those things. I'm glad to be in my own home and back to school. Next time I dog sit, I will have a chain with the house key around my nexk at all times. laurie

Guest guest
Dear Laurie, What a story! Sounds like a sitcom. I am thankful that it ended without too much upsetment. I think I would have broken a window to get back in. I ,too, have had dogs escape and have been in my nightgown and have had to throw something on as you did. Not a good scene, esp. if the weather is cold. I am happy to hear that so many of your friends were so concerned. What a blessing. Hope you have no long or shortterm mito exacerbations form this, Laurie. Take care. Sincerely,
Guest guest
Laurie, I'm so glad you're home now and able to rest, stay warm and eat. I can only imagine how your son felt when he realized what happened. Keep those feet covered. Cindy
Guest guest
I feel like I am close to being back to normal. It must have been the cheesecake. My son and daughter-in-law brought back to pieces of cheesecake as a thankyou. I ate one slice before leaving their house. I figured it was providing protein, carbs and fats. I also did eat more protein, but sure was a tasty first meal. I thought about breaking a window, but with no shoes, I figured I would get seriously cut when entering through the window. I was foolish to not but on shoes, but I figured I'd be outside a few minutes. laurie > From: BDS31@... > Reply-To: > Date: Tue, 13 Apr 2004 19:48:41 -0400 > To: > Subject: Re: strange story-NMR, long > > Dear Laurie, > What a story!
