Guest guest
Hi Rochelle, What a cute doggie name... I had never thought of that... The Doggles sunglasses got their name because they are made especially for dogs, and they look like goggles, not ordinary sunglasses. Peanut of course got a pair. Here they are $90, which is insane. I got hers on eBay for $14, but you can even get them cheaper. She has the XS ILS ones, ILS is for interchangeable lens system, I think. She has the black ones with a dark grey lenses, but I was thinking of getting her a lighter lens (maybe a pink one? Tee-hee). If any of you get them for your dogs, remember NOT to let them try them on inside the house. Then they won't see a thing, and very easily get a negative experience, and won't wear them afterwards. The first time Peanut tried hers on, was really funny. We were outside and I put them on and took her on my lap and drove all I could with my power chair. She stood on two on my lap, and her head went back and forth in all directions. Her ears were straight up, she was so excited. Normally when she rides on my lap, she is glaring, because of the draft in her eyes. Then I put her down and she was running around so excited. She just loved them instantly. Afterwards, when we were going back inside, she walked about a yard into the hall, then stopped and took one of her paws up to the Doggles to tell me to take them off... I read about them in a Norwegian newspaper, in an article about them when they started selling them here. It said that vets recommend them, because dogs often get injuries or chronic eye problems which can be prevented. Also here it is sad how people take their dogs out in the snow up in the mountains, without even thinking of getting them sunglasses. Snow blindness is so painful, and the dogs get it as easy as us humans (it is the same condition as you get if you are doing welding without eye protection). The Doggles are also very nice if you are out in the woods, protecting the eyes against branches etc. which can hit them in the eyes when they run in between bushes and such. Also when it rains and the wind is bad, it is wonderful not to get it in the eyes, makes it possible to have the eyes wide open. Really great for dogs who love to ride with their head out of the car window... Or in a convertible... And of course, they look really, really cool!!!! Peanut is so happy when I take them on if we are out in the sun, especially now when we have had snow most of the time, the light gets really strong. She shows her happiness so obviously when she gets them on, she gets so excited... So there's no doubt in my mind that they are good for her. Now we are about to go out for a run in the snow. It is snowing " cats and dogs " (or kittens, as we say here) today... Peanut is going to be very happy when we get out now, because we have had a lot of snow the past few hours... She loves new snow, she goes completely nuts. She sticks her nose into the snow and sniffs it, so that she starts sneezing... She is so funny. She bounces around, as if she was wearing those Z-coil shoes somebody posted about here recently (with springs on the heels), he-he...
