Here in Wisconsin if you make under a certain income they have what is called BadgerCare. You should also check with the state to find out the rules for pre-existing conditions. I do not know if they write in your state but my fathers girlfriend got quotes from humana.com and blue cross blue shield. I do not remember what their website is. Both were better than cobra which she was paying. She is 61 but no health problems. Group policies are REALLY different than individual policies I found.
