Guest guest
My baby Faith is 8 months old and been in her doc band for almost 2 wks, 2 days ago I noticed her scratching alot behind her left ear and when I checked it, the skin was really red and there were a couple of little red bumps that had surfaced they looked open so I called ct and they said to leave the band off for a couple of days and apply neosporin and hydrocortizone cream. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how long did it take to clear up? I'm afraid of this irritation clashing with her obtaining the proper results needed. Any experiences would help thanks!

Guest guest
Chase is due to pick up his STARband on Thursday and we already have his dermatologist standing by. She's never had a child with a helmet before, so she's up for the challenge. Chase has really bad eczema and is on prescription hydrocortisone ointment (2.5%). She told us we may need to switch to the hydrocortisone cream once the helmet arrives. I'm a huge fan of hydrocortisone (and I was worried that 2.5% was too strong, but she showed me a chart and of ten categories of steroids (ten being the highest), the 2.5% hydrocortisone is still in level one). I'd try that. Also, we had a prescription of bactroband when his ezcema was causing him to scratch open his cheeks - so much better than neosporin and with the hydrocortisone - it was 100% better in only 48 hours. I'd ask your doctor about it. We're hoping his head will tolerate the helmet, but we're ready to pull out all of our ointments again if necessary. Guest guest
It sounds like Faith has a bit of heat rash. na got heat rash on her sideburn area. We used 1% OTC hydrocortisone cream. You gently clean the area. Dry it thoroughly (pat it dry). Rub in the cream. Let the cream dry. Then usually you can put the band back on. In Faith's case with it being open I'm not suprised they said leave it off for a couple days. Usually heat rash responds very quickly. In the future watch for the early signs of rash - light pink spots. Keep her head very dry (take the band off numerous times a day and dry if needed). You can use a little cream at the first signs of rash. na, DOC Grad X2, Feb 04 Kiersten, DOC Grad, April 06 www.thefilyaws.com/plagio/plagio.html > > > > > > My baby Faith is 8 months old and been in her doc band for almost > > 2 > > > wks, 2 days ago I noticed her scratching alot behind her left ear > > and > > > when I checked it, the skin was really red and there were a > couple > > of > > > little red bumps that had surfaced they looked open so I called > ct > > and > > > they said to leave the band off for a couple of days and apply > > > neosporin and hydrocortizone cream.
