Guest guest
Stairs didn't hurt in my case but exercise can really tire out many people and I felt slightly breathless after exercise, rather than tired. I read somewhere (this forum?) that yu shouldn't go up/down stairs more than once a day, but I have no idea for how long. In the first 4 weeks of recovery I made quite a few daily trips up and down stairs, with no idea f this was bad or not. Your abdominal muscles are weaker while they are healing for some time, even if externally you seem to be healing nicely. Was it you that wrote before about cats? It sounds rotten, but the water pistol idea mightn't be a bad one for a 'quick! get off me!' instruction to the cat. They'll forgive you and won't give up your bed as cats do what they please. You could do tests into cat claw and cat jumping armour before the operation, I guess. Expect your whole stomach area to be sensitive in the way mild sunburn, a shaving rash or a chinese burn feels: it only feels sensitive when you're touching it. (That's why big knickers and high waists are more comfortable than briefs and low slung trousers with zips and belts digging in). I hope that helps! You may find moving your TV dinner away from the cats more annoying than usual. Not to mention their indecision about going out or staying in. The comfort of having them around will be terrific. Don't let the cats cause you to over -do anything though.
Guest guest
Hi , I am so happy to learn that you are about to get rid of your buggers! Your choice is a tough one in terms of after surgery locale. I haven't had a myo yet but I did have lap surgery for an ectopic pregnancy and they fill you with gas whenever you have surgery " down there " which adds to major discomfort. I had a parrot (still do) and was very thankful that my fiance put him in the bird hotel because I really did not feel like looking after anyone other then myself. I was told by my doc to take 2 weeks off which I did. The first week I had a really hard time finding any position to sleep in that was comfortable. The hospital (I stayed there for 4 days post surgery) loaded me up with pillows and they were much appreciated. I lived on the first floor at the time and was very thankful not to have to climb any steps as moving around was not swift or comfortable. Certainly having someone to look after your needs would be the very best. I would think that climbing 45 stairs would not be easy on your own. Hope this input has helped some and I wish you the very best! suzanne > 1st of all : Happy Birthday, Carla !!!!!!! > ********************************************************************** ****** > I am wondering where I should go after my myo : To my house directly, or to my parents' house for 3-4 days ... > I live in a house with 6 cats in the living space, but only 2 sleep with me at night. > The cat sitter will come 3 times/day the first 2 weeks, so i dont have to do any cat chores, etc. > The bedroom/ bathroom at my parents' house would be way down about 45 steep stairs, > so i wonder : would I be able to walk up all those stairs after 3- 4 days, so that someone can drive me back to my house ? OR would it be better to just go to my house after surgery ? > Either way, I will have someone stay with me the first few nights, and visitors during the day who will be quiet. > Also, I tried putting a queen size pillow on top of my stomach/abdomen and a kitty sat on the pillow instead of on me. It felt O.k. but I am wondering if this will be enough protection... > Any advise appreciated, > Thanks, >
