Do they do a biopsy, MRI and laparoscopy? Patty: My doctors did the following when I first reported my bleeding problem: 1). Endometrial biopsy to rule out cancer (it was negative), Ultrasound (both regular & transvaginal) to check the size and location of the fibroids. The ultrasounds showed the fibroids and I was instructed to take over the counter " Motrin " . My bleeding became worse so my doctor gave me a 3 month dose of Depot Lupron (11.25 mg.). THAT HELPED TRENENDOUSLY! iT cut down on the volume of bleeding right away. It took 2 months for my bleeding to stop. I had a 2nd shot of Depot Lupron and I am scheduled for a hysteroscopic resection opn March 23. Don't be afraid. Insist to have ultrasounds performed to get a proper diagnosis. Ater that, depending if you have these things, if they are small the doctor may not feel immediate aggressive treatment is needed. ARe you having heavy, persistent bleeding? If so, that will make your life miserable. All that bleeding. I am 44 and thought the heavy bleeding I was experiencing was just an " age " thing that my mother forgot to tell me about. How big are your fibroids? ARe the causing symptoms? I also am dreadfully afraid of having the resection on in March. I am hoping it stops the bleeding so I can get back to normal. Also, don't be afraid the ask your doctor for pain medication if you need it. I have a rx for my pain and it helps when I need it.
