I'm going to talk to my dr. about the statins for me - I want to go off. I did

for a while, then back on. I want her to do before bloodwork, then after

bloodwork. The last I knew, it didn't lower my cholesterol at all. Only my

thyroid meds did that.

I wanted to stay on it because of the chance that it helps prevent alzheimers.

Re: Betty?

I hope you got the right Betty. When I was taking the statin, I felt a bit

depressed and little forgetful. Developed arthritis in my left upper shoulder.

When I became very hypo(was taking 20mg. a day) the pains started in my

trapizeus muscles,

then my legs and eventually to my feet. The pain was horrible in my feet when I

walked. My FNP took me off the statin and in a few days I felt so much better.

My dementia got worse too when I was very hypo. They wanted me to go back on

them and I said " No "

I noticed you menitoned that you were on the statin drugs in another post. Can

you please tell me how they made you feel?

I'm really frustrated looking at all the prescription drugs they've loaded up my

brother with since his bypass surgery, and it's quite scary as they are making

him feel 'not so great'.

How long has he been on the statin? I think my shoulders started hurting first.

At that time I was starting to get very hypo(as the RAI started working on me).

Then the more hypo I got. I think my t4 was below the middle of the range, that

is when the pains really hit me while I was taking Lipitor.

I'm wondering if that's not part of his problems. He says that his shoulders

hurt? But he's done nothing to make them hurt. He's also had other problems,

but I just wonder.

He just called and said that he's also not got any feeling in his toes on the

left foot, which keeps swelling? Sheesh, this is just so frustrating.

so ??

Do statins affect the amount of thyroid - like armour, that we get? or do they

affect the thryroid itself?

What do they do?

boy - my shoulders have been hurting for eons...

and my t4 and t3 are well below the top of normal. they're 'in' normal, but

they're low normal.
