Guest guest
Hi everyone: first, to Kim: Either get better service or fire your doctor - it sounds like you are not getting all the info you need to know what your options are. If you have a submucosal fibroid (likely based on your bleeding) it's possible that a hysterscopic (sp?) resection might help you. Also, read all you can about UAE (and try the 'embo' group here on yahoo for a board devoted to discussion about this.) I had a UAE in May this year & feel that this is a very good option in many cases for women as it can eliminate symptoms at a relatively low level of intervention. Do not plan to kiss your uterus goodbye without exploring all treatment possibilities. As you've probably gathered from some of the dialogue here, most of us have come to realize that your reproductive organs are not disposable just because you are not having (any more or any at all) children. They serve a serious purpose for your health as a woman and if you just remove them thinking that will solve your problems, you may be in for a very unpleasant surprise. Read everything you can on the subject, especially Carla's book. best to you on your journey - you've come to the right place for info and support! ========= To kvera: Yes, you're being offered a hysterectomy because we still have doctors in this country with medieval attitudes towards women's reproductive health and the disposability of our seemingly-unuseful organs (after 40.) I had a UAE to relieve my bulk symptoms & have been very happy with the outcome. ====== that's all for now laurie g.
