Guest guest
Hi , I was prescribed Cleocin after one of my surgeries. One of the side effects of it is extreme diaharrea, which I experienced. The more diaharrea I got, the more nauseous I got. It was awful to deal with that on top of the normal healing process with the surgery. I tried to tough it out for 10 days postop until I finally called my surgeon. He was able to quickly prescribe some suppository drugs to stop both the nausea and diaharrea which worked very quickly. If you are still suffering, please call your surgeon now. You will become quickly dehydrated if you continue with the diaharrea and can't get the liquids down. I've been there! The anti- nausea/diaharrea drugs will make you sleepy but it's far better than the diaharrea/nausea and will settle you enough to start getting some fluids in. After about 2 weeks postop, my stomach seemed to get used to the Cleocin and I was able to take it for the 21 days it was prescribed. However, there are other antibiotics out there that are easier on the stomach that your surgeon can switch you to if he/she's inclined to do so. After my second surgery, I was given a pink bubblegum flavored liquid antibiotic and it worked just as well (no infections after either surgery) which was tastier and easier on the belly. Hang in there and good luck! Irish! > I had an awful night, unable to sleep. Today, it seems as though my > antibiotics (Cleocin) has badly upset my stomach.
