Guest guest
I am glad you are up and healing. Why more pain do you think? How is the swelling and do you have balance problems and/or dizziness. I am keeping you in my prayers. No I have never used cpap. Are drs suggesting this for you? Guest guest
I'm talking it slowly but not feeling all that badly. The surgery was 3 hours and there's more pain this time but I am handling it with regular Tylenol. I can't take ibupropin until all is healed because it's a blood thinner. I have a question for Vivian.. Viv.. do you or have you ever used CPAP? I have really been wondering if CPAP is a problem for someone with a CI. Guest guest
well swelling is really the least problematic side effects isn't it? thank goodness the dizziness and balance are resolved as those can be real problems. If your implant team doesn't have any valuable input on the cpap then I'd have to say that you need to follow your own intuition which is as usual with mito. They still are finding out all sorts of things about ci's after all and I would venture to say this is not an area that comes up often. Have you considered contacting cochlear corp direct with the query? Listen feel better....ice the swelling and as I said I am keeping you in my prayers for success. Guest guest
The surgery was twice as long as usual and more detailed. I have swelling on my neck but not bad and he checked it to be sure that it was not a problem. My balance problems and dizziness are gone - just a little light headedness which I would expect from a general anesthesia and major surgery. I'm asking about CPAP because I'm beginning to think that perhaps the continuous pressure of CPAP is not good for the implant. I've had CPAP for 6 years. I have one implant that the electrodes have found their way outside of the cochlea. I had another removed this week that did not make it a full year. As you know, even sneezing needs to be considered once you have had the implant. This is just a personal theory but I can't help but wonder about this. I am not using the CPAP but I am using the mouth guard for my " TMJ " and this helps. If I have to give up CPAP to hear - it's a huge trade off but I'll find a way to do it. I could be just overly concerned about nothing, but this keeps going thru my head as the reason I've had these problems. When I asked the question on my CI list, the only answer I got was from a Mom of a child with Mito who's implant is being removed after a year and a half as it is no longer working. They aren't going to replace it. He uses CPAP. Just to make you all laugh, some of the private e mails I got were - What in the world is CPAP?
