Guest guest
I am not sure what to buy in advance of getting our band (next Wed.), should I get some Memory Foam even if my little one is a move-all-over- in-the crib sleeper? (it's expensive - but if it'll work I'll try it!) ~ dd - 6mo. plagio & tort.
Guest guest
Hi , Every baby is different - some take a while to adjust and some don't even notice they've got something on their heads. For my son, sleeping in his band was an absolute non- event - he just went to sleep. If your little one is already moving, chances are that she'll be able to find herself a reasonably comfortable position. My advice would be to wait one night and see what happens - the worst would be a sleepless night and a trip to the store the next day. One thing I would recommend getting is 91% alcohol and a soft toothbrush for cleaning. The stronger alcohol is available and Target and (I think) Wal-mart. My grocery store only carries 70%. We scrub out his DOC Band with the toothbrush and alcohol, then wipe out the residue with a paper towel and let the band air dry. For the most part, this has kept the " aroma " to a minimum. Most babies are pretty sweaty the first few days, so my advice is to be prepared to start this on the first day - it took me a couple of days to get the stronger stuff and he got a bit stinky in the meantime. Just my two cents. Guest guest
I agree, use the 91% with a toothbrush - it works very well. I usually scrub the band for about 5 minutes while my hubby starts Nate's bath. We really haven't had any bad smell problems aside from the first week or so, and we live in Texas where it's very hot. I always try to get the air conditioning on in the car before getting him in and try to make sure he spends little time outside where it is so hot. I miss our walks, but I think it is for the best in this heat. My son is also a sleep " wiggler " . He too did perfectly fine without anything special in his crib. We just put him in a pair of light footie PJs and no blanket and he has not had any sleep problems. Oh and I would go and buy some hydrocortisone cream - generic is fine. Your baby may well get a small heat rash on his forehead. Our therapist said she suggests everyone gets some just in case. It works wonders. Good luck, Joanna Nate - one week left in DOC > > > > I am not sure what to buy in advance of getting our band (next Wed.), > > should I get some Memory Foam even if my little one is a move-all- over- > > in-the crib sleeper? Guest guest
The only thing i noticed that I should have bought was shirts or outfits that don't have to be pulled over their heads. It's so much easier to change them without having to take the helmet off. Guest guest
I second that! Especially pyjamas. There's nothing worse than having a diaper leak in the middle of the night and having to hassle with taking the band off and on to change your child's jammies (unless of course they are sleeping in just their diaper). I learned my lesson really quick with that one! If you are looking for jammies that button up check these websites: http://www.choochoobaby.com/baownwrcodiv.html http://www.choochoobaby.com/baownwronfrs.html http://sierrablue.com/baownprandem2.html I searched all over and these were the only summer-time jammies I could find that buttoned up and were reasonable priced (Gap and Gymboree had some but they were appx. $20 a pair). Guest guest
You can buy a twin-size piece of memory foam and cut it down to fit the size of the crib so the whole surface is covered. I found it at Target for $39.99. Molly California Nicolas, 8 months, tort & plagio, STARband 4/25/06 , 3 , 6.5 Fit appt.
