I was just told I have an Enlarged Uterus...

Hello everyone, I have been just browsing through everything, and

thought that I was ready to tell my story. Well what little there is

so far. Well on Tuesday (1/20/04) I ended up in the ER at 4:30 a.m.

with severe lower back pain. I had been having lower back pain for a

couple of days before this. I really didnt think anything of the

pain, I have a long history of back pain.(A childhood injury)I was

getting ready for work, and stretched my back to try to loosen it up

and something " pinched " mind you I was doing my moring " pee " .. hehe

anyway I almost could not finish going pee, I got very faint, sweaty,

and thought I was going to vomit!!! I was able to finally get up and

go to my bed and hollard to my husband that something was very wrong.

I still could not breath very well, because of the pain. My Mom came

to take me to the hospital. (hubbie couldnt take me, we have 5 kids,

ages 13 to 4 1/2. 4 boys and 1 girl) The Dr. first of all gave my

pain killers!!!! thank God. Then pounded on my belly and back. He

thought I might have gall stones. He ordered x-rays, a CAT scan and a

UA. Everything came back neg. for gall stones, but came in and asked

me when the last time I was pregnant!!! now this totally freaked me

out. I have 5 kids, and my tubed tied, I have no desire for any more

kids!!! I told him almost 5 years ago. He said ok hold on I need to

check something, and started to walk out.... I yelled at him to tell

me what was going on!!! I did not want to be pregnant!!! He told me

that the CAT scan detected that I have an enlarged uterus. He then

said that he was going to give me a pelvic exam. I had not had one

sence my last baby was born.(5 years ago) He didnt detect anything. I

scedualed an appt. with my GP for a pap smear and ultrasound.

I am sorry this is getting kind of long. There is no one in

my family that has had this, so there is no one for me to talk to for

advise. While reading info on symtoms of fibroids, I think back and

say oh my gosh this has been going on for awhile, and get scared. My

periods arent that heavy, but a wierd, I spot for about a week then

have the period for a little over a week. the frequent urination, my

hubbie is always teasing me about that, " gosh you are in that

bathroom 'again' " hehe I did have 1 abnormal pap smear with my 4th

baby but they said that it was because I was preg.

I do have a couple ques?

1. Could the fact that my last baby was 10.1,for my

uterus being enlarged?

2. or the fact that its close to me getting my period?

I think this should be enough for now... again sorry for

this being so long...
