Guest guest
To my knowledge no, you do not need to see a plastic surgeon along with CT. Does your son have Cranio? that is the only reason why i can think of (I'm not in the med field) your doc would want your child to see a surgeon. Some doctors send babies to see plastic surgeons, neurosurgeons, etc..PRIOR to the offical plagio diagnoses - to rule out cranio. Some folks follow up with a speciality doctor when there babies graduate from bands/helmets - I did. Hope this helps, Hazel and Andres, 21 months old Docband Grad 4/06 > > Caleb's plastic surgeon in Nashville called today to see that we found > a new doctor up here to observe the doc band - to make remarks for > fitting etc. I thought Caleb didn't have to see a doctor on the side > up here? Guest guest
Yes, that helps a lot. He went from pediatrician to neurosurgeon to plastic surgeon. The plastic surgeon is who called me asking if I had a dr here in Ohio to do the checkups for helmet fittings which is what the doc band Straight Ahead will be doing. He has plagiocephaly with mild torticollis due to the plagio. I think I'm good then. What a relief. That was a scare today. Guest guest
I agree with Hazel. If you have a RX for a DOC band then there is no reason to see another dr. I know some ped and family drs are more comfortable sending their patients to specialists before the write the RX. You're in really good hands with Straight Ahead. On one hand that was great that Caleb's dr found you a loval specialist to monitor his care. However, it really isn't necessary. After the dr writes the RX then Straight Ahead does all the work. Kiersten's dr hasn't seen her since Feb. She graduated in April. He saw her for her 1 yr well baby and commented - what a nice round head. He left it all in the hands of CT. I would say thank you we will take his name and number. If we have any questions or concerns we will contact him. You might even want to tell the other dr - look this is expensive enough I don't need to add a specialist fee on top just to tell me " it looks good, keep following protocol " . na, DOC Grad X2 Nov 03 & Feb 04 Kiersten, DOC Grad Apr 06 www.thefilyaws.com/plagio/plagio.html > > > > Caleb's plastic surgeon in Nashville called today to see that we > found > > a new doctor up here to observe the doc band - to make remarks for > > fitting etc. I thought Caleb didn't have to see a doctor on the > side > > up here?
