I've not yet done research, but I'd like an explanation, too. Janie

OK. Here's what I found out. The pharmaceutical that used to own

Armour was RPR (Rhone Poulenc Rorer). When Forest Pharmaceuticals

bought the three thyroid products that RPR made, which included

Armour, they also got US marketing rights for Armour. BUT export

rights belonged to Broda Research Foundation!! i.e. Broda

foundation gets some funds from the Armour that THEY send

overseas. But......what I haven't figured out yet is if it's Broda

that is the reason that places overseas HAD Armour, and WHY

it's not available anymore.

Looks like we should all be writing the Broda Research Foundation instead

of the pharmacies. Hey I will even be a volunteer guinea pig for them if they

are doing any thyroid studies that gives Armour! LOL But I better get the real

thing not a placebo!

Yes, and , have ANY of the pharmacies that you have written

given any clue as to WHERE they were getting the Armour, or WHY they

are not offering it anymore? Janie

Not a word. Like it is some big secret. The only think ONE place told me was

that Armour was no longer available to them.

Hey! This company is in my old hometown, about an hour and a half or so south

of me now. Cool!! Maybe I could go knock on their front door to see if they

could still make Armour for us. :-) Actually, their original name WAS Armour

Pharmaceutical.....they changed their name to RPR, oh about 12 years ago. I

remember when they changed their name to RPR, their poor receptionist couldn't

pronouce it....they started off wanting her to say the whole thing.

Hugs,

Deb :-)

I'm in France where it is impossible to get Armour and when I was

young and ignorant ( about 2 years ago ) I simply wrote a mail to

Forest and asked them what I could do to get their product . If I

could order it from them for example . Or my pharmacist could order

it or whatever ...

They said that all the international sales of Armour pass by the

Broda foundation . I then contacted and they sent me a

list of prices ( reasonnable ) , products , etc. . But they don't

sell to patients , only to pharmacies or doctors .

For information : in Belgium at the pharmacie the 1 grain bottle of

Armour costs 20 euros . In Germany it costs a LOT more , don't have

the exact number but it could easily be 3 times as much ! For the

german patients it's actually cheaper to order on the net (

Biogenesis , IAS ) then buy at their local pharmacie . Only we don't

have the right to order online any more , noone ships to Europe any

more , not even with a prescription !!! :-(((( And for the french

patients this was the only way to get it , as here we can't get it AT

ALL .

I don't know , but I think has been promoting Armour when it

was pretty much unheard of , at least internationaly . I can't

imagine there is anything negativ behind this . If anyone has been

pushing Armour , that's !
