Guest guest
Hi all, I'm Sue. I am a Licensed Midwife and a L/D nurse. I can talk till the cows come home about pregnancy and birth, but when it comes to fibroids, I'm just learning. I spent all afternoon reading past posts, and what concerns me is this UFE proceedure. Polyurathane plastic clogging up the artries? Can that be safe? It scares me to think of it. I have a 15 x 9cm fibroid plus a few more not as spectaular in size, contained in my uterus. I have different symptoms than other posts that I have read. My periods abruptly stopped 3 months ago, I had menopausal symptons like, hot flashes, 1/2 of my hair fell out, ice craving, anemia and two periods a month for a couple of months. Then the urine leakage began. The symptoms stopped, excpet the urine leakage. Replacing the beginning symptoms I now have pink mucous spotting and a most offinsive odor, shooting pains on my left side and 25lb wt gain the past month. Also I can palpate my large uterus. So that's how I ended up on the gyn's table with the sono wand intimatly placed. My first thought was yank out the offending organ! But now I'm looking into a myomectomy. I don't know my FSH and LH or throid levels yet, I just had them drawn yesterday. Sound familur? Thanks for reading Sue ,
Guest guest
Hi Sue, Yes, your symptoms all sound familar. If you read enough posts, you see a little of everything. First, are you treating your anemia? Slow FE iron and vitamin C are the ticket. Your hair falling out and the ice cravings are more severe symptoms. It's important you get your counts up. Surgery isn't a option until this happens. Everything else you described can be the fibroids. Have you had saline utrasounds or MRIs for better pictures? Do you know where all your fibroids are? You can have a myo. Depending on where your fibroids are, a UAE. A hyst was too extreame for me. You can get a whole new set of problems with hysts. Keep reading and ask questions. You can share your tests results here and they can help explain them. www.myomectomy.net is a good source for basic information. You can ask for help finding a doc. Find a doc that has done lots of myos. You may want to try a RE. They usually have good experience doing myos. Don't let a doc just talk you into hyst. I had 3 docs tell me hyst before I went to another state and had a myo. None of these 3 docs could do a myo. MANY women here get told hyst several times (some never being told any other options). It's more the norm so beware. Do what YOU want. Do take care of your anemia! Bye, Ku
