Guest guest
Hi Debbie! It's Edie - the one who is organizing the east coast gathering for our fibroid groups on Sun., 1/25/03. I just wanted to offer the following regarding your 2nd question on logistics: if you are staying at a hotel, I am 99% sure that the hospital will require that you have someone drive you back to the hotel (i.e., I don't think they will allow you to leave the hotel alone)! Therefore, I don't think (this is just a personal opinion) you should count on driving yourself home from the hotel, unless you can get someone to first drive you from the hospital to the hotel. I also don't think you'd want to stay at the hotel, alone, anyway. Think about if you have an emergency, or need something and can't get out by yourself, etc. Also, getting meals, etc. On another note: I don't know if anyone has offered this - (I've been with the group now for about 3 months)- Would anyone be interested in forming a Group of Helpers? Further to Debbie's post below, I had an idea that, those of us who can spare the time, perhaps women with grown children, home businesses, those retired, or just those who might have some spare time - can't we form a group of helpers for those that don't have someone to help post-myo or post procedure? Maybe those who can offer a drive, or can stay with the person at the hotel, or can come in if they are alone at home, post-op? I'd love to hear from everyone, and from Carla et al - how we would go about organizing this VOLUNTEER effort, and if it could work? We would have to set up a basic set of rules (i.e., no taking advantage of the volunteer, the volunteer would have no financial responsibility for the recuperating person, etc.) Thanks, Edie - PS: Debbie - you can e-mail me directly (EGT@...) - Look forward to seeing you in Fishkill on Sunday, 1/25/03, at 11am - I think you have the directions, right? ----------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 16 Jan 2004 20:05:49 -0000 Subject: Post Myo ?: vanity & pain meds My myo is scheduled. I just have a few questions. One is vanity related. Ninety-five percent of my reason for a myo is to stop the madness (the intense bleeding). The other is to have a flat stomach again. Does the stomach go back to being flat after being cut so invasively? My second question is I am trying to figure out logistics. I am going out of state for the surgery. How long is one on pain meds? I may have to drive myself so I was wondering how long i will need to stay in a hotel before I can drive home. Thanks!! Debbie
