Hello Ladies,

I am new to the forum, and would like to know if I am

doing the right thing and if anyone could recommend on

the procedure / radiologist:

1) My period has been heavy in the last 2 yrs but in

the last months it poured nonstop, and this time, I

had to go in the emergency room after too much

bleeding. A sonogram was ordered and they found that

I have a Submucosal fibroid 4 - 5 times the size of my

uterus. I was told that all these procedures are not

for me:

Endometrial Ablation and Myomectomy

2) My options are UFE or Hysterectomy. I live in the

San Francisco Bay Area. I now choose the UFE

procedure and with my type of insurance, I can go to

any radiologist. I think UFE is for me, and was

recommended by my gynecologist to Dr Abedon.

3) If anyone heard of Dr Abedon or would like to

recommend another Radiologist, I am all ears. For

this week, I am either laying down or sitting while

swallowing extra strength iron tablets. I’ll soon be

able to walk 15 minutes a day. I am just scared that

for any reason, the procedure doesn’t work, and I’ll

have the bleeding again.

Thank you,

Jacky Liu

Jackie, if your interested in UFE, join the other group on yahoo.

You'll get a wealth of information and all your questions answered

including a good IR in your area. This is where I have found out

about everything. What a support. I just recently joined this one

also. Embo group. Jen

Here is a link to the embo group:

Also, you may be able to find a doctor skilled enough to perform a

myomectomy. Often whether or not a fibroid can be removed depends

more on the skill of the surgeon rather than the size and/or

location of the fibroid.

Hi,

You do have the option of a myo. Look for a RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist) in

your area. Depending on your fibroid a resection could be a option. Did you have

a saline sono or MRI? Could tell you more.

Good! Keep taking that iron. Add some vitamin C too. Anemia will suck the life

right out of you. I warn about anemia a lot. It sent me to the ER and they said

it could have killed me. It's just so dangerous.

I was a bleeder like you and it's terrible. I had a myo and have a new life. It

made a big difference. Sometimes it helps to know someone had your same problem

and got it solved. I had it last Auguest.

UAE is a good choice, if it fails, you can do a myo. I'm a little concerned with

you thinking you had only 2 choices. But you know different now.

Hi Ku,

Looks like I may have more options than my GYN told

me!

I have a MRI scheduled for Thursday, but I have not

been able to talk to the IR yet. I will get a second

opinion to see if Hysteroscopic resection or

myomectomy would be an option for me.

I live is S. San Francisco, so I'll find a doctor with

office between San and San Francisco.

I guess I am kinda rushing too because I am so afraid

of heavy bleeding again.

Thank you,
