Guest guest
Hello, I am a SARPE patient, and I have been reading the posts here for several months now and have found the information most helpful. I would like to introduce myself to the group and ask a question. I had Le Fort Osteotomy surgery in mid-July (three months ago) and my last activating turn on the expander two and a half months ago. I am still experiencing facial discomfort. While much of the numbness I had went away, the left side of my upper lip is still about 90% numb, and my upper gums are 100% numb. While I don't look swollen, I can feel swelling under my cheeks and upper lip and I have puffiness in my upper left cheeck and under my left eye. In addition, I have a very bad stiff feeling in my upper lip and nose area. I also have a phantom nose dripping sensation under my left nostril. The surgeon and the orthodontists who are treating me tell me that the feeling will come back, but since it has now been more than three months I am starting to get worried. What's bothering me the most is the facial stiffness under and on both sides of my nose. At my last appointment, the surgeon told me that I will never feel 100% back to normal. I have been keeping a blog detailing my experiences, and here is the address for that: http://mybrilliantsmile.blogspot.com/ If anyone who has had a SARPE can offer me any guidance, I would be most appreciative. Thank you, Fred
