Update on Armour

I thought I was going to die on 1.25 grains. In retrospect, I realize the

hyper feelings were probably the result of low potassium. This trial of

Armour has really messed me up. Before, I could go right back to T4 and

after a few days, BP would normalize and the " hypers " would leave. This

time, I stopped Armour on 10/20 and made valiant attempts to return to T4.

As of Dec 11, I've not even had T4 and still have the " hypers. " I tried

taking just 50 mcg, here and there, but each time the " hypers " got worse.

Val

Val you could be resistant like I am to the thyroid hormones. I did slow

down swelling on Armour but not till I got over 3 grains a day and my blood

pressure didn't reliably come down till I added in Cytomel. I think the T3

has alot to do with circulation and blood pressure.

You are upping the Armour way too fast. You shouldn't be at the 2 grain

dose yet. 30 mgs for a couple of wks, then 60 mgs for about 4 wks, then see

how you feel. If still hypo symptoms, then start upping only 15 mgs at a

time for 4 to 6 wks or so. Do test at about 6 wk intervals, if you can

afford it, for awhile. This is waaaayyyy too fast.

>>if you're already taking Armour, why do you need to add T3 when T3 is already

in Armour.<<

Some of us do not convert T4 into T3 very well at all, for those of us that are

like that we can easily build up too much T4 in our blood without getting enough

T3 to actually make us feel well, even on Armour. I have to take more T3 with my

Armour. If I take 7 grains Armour I have shakes and irritability and tiredness,

if I take 6 grains I feel hypo. I tried 6.5 too and still did not feel well. SO

I dropped down to the 6 and added in some extra T3. This seems to work best FOR

ME. My last labs I was on 4.5 grains Armour. They showed a Free T4 of (if I

remember right,it's been a long time!) 1.9 and my Free T3 was 225 with the range

being 230 -460 I think. In other words, while my Free T4 was in range, though

low, my Free T3 was not even in the range at all, which told me I needed more T3

than the average person. So I increased the Armour first as my Free T4 was still

too low, but when that got where I felt I was taking too much, I cut it back and

still felt too low. Time to tweak the T3 & T4 individually and as mine was

really low on the Free T3, that was the end I chose to tweak. Hope this explains

it.

Natural T3? Not that I am aware of. I take Cynomel which is Mexican for Cytomel.
