Guest guest
Before my ablation, my gyn told me that there is an 80% success rate. Weeelll, I think I am in the 20% for whom the ablation doesn't work. I had a light flow period 3 weeks after the ablation. The next one was a little heavier and lasted a bit longer. This third one just goes on and on and on. No gushing, no clots, and no cramps -- but a constant spotting to light flow. I am so disappointed and I am so tired of the constant bleeding (yes, it is much lighter but never ends). I feel like standing on my driveway and screaming. I have an appointment with my gyn next Thursday. Wonder what she'll say?? Has anyone out there had anything similiar to this? Not a whole lot is posted on ablation. Thanks --nne
Guest guest
How are you defining success? Do you mean a complete end to your periods? You say that the spotting goes on and on, for how many days? I had an ablation 6 months ago and am pleased with my results even though I do still have a period every month. It is so light though that I only need to use the lite tampons or pantyliners. It usually lasts about as long as before, but seems to sort of start and stop. For instance the first day I will spot a little, then no bleeding for a day or so, then a couple of more days of spotting. One box of 20 tampons will last me several months. You may need to wait a few more months to see what kind of pattern you settle into. > Before my ablation, my gyn told me that there is an 80% success rate. > Weeelll, I think I am in the 20% for whom the ablation doesn't work. > I had a light flow period 3 weeks after the ablation. Guest guest
I was ready to declare success even when I got my periods. They were so much lighter, no clots, or cramps. That was heaven. I wasn't wanting an end to periods; all I want are manageable ones. I have had to buy a package of regular Always pad of 24 (pantyliners don't do it) every two weeks since Christmas. I use at least 2 each day. My fear is that the bleeding will continue to increase (as it slowly has). If my gyn tells me that I should wait several more months before declaring success or failure, I will be happy to do so. My fibroid was grapefruit size 3 months ago and that was a concern to my gyn. If it has grown, it may be interfering with the normal process. -- nne
Guest guest
I didn't realize that you still had a large fibroid. I had my ablation after I had a submucousal fibroid removed, so that is why I have had such a good outcome. I don't think that an ablation alone is an appropriate treatment for bleeding problems when fibroids are present. > I was ready to declare success even when I got my periods.
