Guest guest
> Tonight was my lastnight at my seasonal position at b & n and this > woman came to the counter w/a fibroid book that I had already read. I > commented on it and she said that she has been on Gyno-Ease and it > reduced her 22 week fibroid down to 15 weeks. Has anyone tried this? Distributed by: Pacific Biologic Company, , Po Box 520, Clayton, CA 94517 http://www.pacificbiologic.com/ (Note: Gyno-Ease isn't listed anywhere on their website though. Not certain why not--as they are identified as the distributor of Gyno-Ease on other sites.) Ingredients: Cinnamon Twig, Poria Plant Fungus, Hoelen, Peony (White) Root, Tree peony root bark, Peach Kernel. Take 2-3 capsules/day for a cost of ~$32/month. ********************* WARNING: This company has had a serious recall of herbal products containing toxic substances in the past which could truly be detrimental to one's health. As for the ingredients in this essentially Chinese herbal remedy...the following is based upon what can be found online in numerous Chinese pharma dictionaries: Cinnamon twig: The young twig of Cinnamon strengthens the body and is said to result in a more youthful complexion. Cinnamon twig can be used to relax neck and shoulder tension. It is categorized as a warm herb, capable of warming the entire body, and is primarily used in Chinese herbalism to open blood channels and thus to improve circulation. It is not as deeply tonifying as the much older and richer bark. Poria Plant Fungus (Chi Pu Ling): Regulates fluid metabolism, and calms the heart energy. Hoelen: Hoelen increases chi and dispels water ( " dries the dampness " ). It relieves adverse water congestion and regulates water congestion. It is used to increases the flow of urine to treat: * edema * dropsy * frequent urination * diarrhea Hoelen is also a sedative that " quiets the heart and calms the spirit " to relieve hypertension, heart palpitations and insomnia. Peony (white) Root (Bai Sho): Uterine relaxant, analgesic, mucostatic. A classic Chinese herb used to help regulate a woman's menstrual flow. It is used to help promote fertility. From a Chinese herbalist site: " Peony root is a famous and highly prized blood tonic used to relax muscle and cleanse the blood. It is one of the most highly prized women's herbs used traditionally to help regulate the female hormonal cycle and to tonify and purify the blood. It is also used as a pain reducing agent and as an emotional stabilizer by women. It is said to relieve cramps and spasms anywhere in the body. In particular, it is considered to be highly effective in relieving menstrual cramps. Peony root is also believed to extend life and to promote beauty. An old Chinese saying states that " a woman who consumes Peony root regularly becomes as beautiful as the Peony flower itself. " Men should use Peony as well, since it has an antiaging effect without effecting hormones. " Tree peony root bark (Mu Dan Pi): Uterine stimulant, anti-inflammatory, sedative, anti-cholinergic. Traditionally used for: Bleeding due to heat in the blood; fever due to deficiency of yin; amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, or abdominal mass associated with blood stasis; traumatic injury with blood stasis; sores and carbuncles. Peach Kernal (Tao Ren): Uterine relaxant, analgesic, uterine stimulant. (Should not be taken during pregnancy.) Breaks up Blood stagnation. Can be used for menstrual problems and traumatic injury. Moistens the intestines so it can be used for constipation. ************************* As I understand this (and I could well be wrong here -- corrections to this are more than welcome), a fibroid is viewed as disease occurring due to blocked chi resulting in blood stagnation. This combination of Chinese herbs is probably used (in conjunction with acupuncture, typically) to stimulate blood flow and unblock the flow of energy. There isn't any research available (that I could easily locate) that would support this theory or show this remedy to be useful for fibroids. Given the analgesic quality of this combo of herbs, I would guess this has a similar effect as taking an NSAID, such as Aleve. Only, it's waaaaaay more expensive. Perhaps there's a Chinese herbalist " out there " lurking on the group who could explain in greater detail this remedy and its benefits. Any research citations available would also be extremely helpful.
