Guest guest
If your bleeding is caused by fibroids then the ablation may not be effective. You may have submucousal (inside the uterine cavity) fibroids, since these are the ones that typically cause heavy bleeding. These can often be removed with a hysteroscopic resection, which is also known as a vaginal myo. It is an outpatient procedure and no incision is made. Recovery time in practically non existent. The doctor may also be able to do an ablation at the same time if you want. I have had both procedures, but not at the same time. My heavy bleeding was primarily caused by a 3cm submucousal fibroid for which I had a resection 2 years ago. My bleeding decreased quite a bit and the bloating I had experienced pretty much went away completely. Since I still had a day or so of heavy bleeding each month I decided to have the ablation last summer. Since then my periods are so light that I only need to use a lite tampon or a panty liner. You cannot have an ablation if you still want to have children, and you must always use some kind of birth control afterward. > My family Dr. has recommended I see a GYN for endometrial ablation.
