Guest guest
Why aren't you considering myomectomy - surgery that removes the fibroids and leaves the uterus intact? At your age it is highly unlikely that you will develop new fibroids. If your doctor can't do this surgery you may need to find one who will. If you want more info about UAE you should check out the " embo " group on Yahoo groups. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/embo/ -- In uterinefibroids , " bichon_rescue " <bichon_rescue@y...> wrote: > My uterus is the size of a 16 week pregnancy with multiple fibroids, > ranging in size from filbert nuts to the largest right posterior > lower segment at 9.5 x 10 x 7.3 cm, fundal subserous 5.7 x 4 x 2.5, > left fundal intramural 5 x 5 x 5, left calcified funda 3.5 cm. > > I have been living with the discomfort of these things (not to > mention the appearance of being pregnant) for several years and have > gotten to the point where I just want them out. Guest guest
Have you considered doing some treatment course with Lupron yet? I know that it is an off label us to treat fibroids this way and it will induce a chemical menopause but it might be enough to help calm down your hormones and get some shrinkage. I have no first hand experience with this drug however and you really should talk to a doctor about it. Anyone else here have any thoughts about it? I also wonder about what happens to fibroids when they shrink, with menopause, pregnancy (rare but we've heard stories), etc. Do they turn into lumps of scar tissue? Are they reabsorbed? I'm not talking about for UAE, just other more natural causes of shrinkage. -Ann
Guest guest
Each to his own, but I'm not interested in Lupron. I'm 51 and I was having some fibroid pain. My dr is not interested in doing a hyst on me, but she suggested Lupron for 6 mos. I've heard of doing lupron, then doing a myo. I told her I'd think about it. Since then, I've had no pain, so I'm still in the wait and see mode. Colleen > Have you considered doing some treatment course with Lupron yet?
