Guest guest
Hi all, I'm a newcomer to this group and will be having a myo on Thursday. I'm 48, have 1 adopted child (18). I finally decided to have surgery because I found a dr. willing to do a myo on me as opposed to my former gyn, woman, who was of the " well, you're not using it so let's get rid of it " school of Extreme Insensitivity. She said this 4 years ago, when my fibroids were " 9-week " size. Today they have multiplied considerably and are at the 20-something-week size (all sizes are approximate). I've recently lost about 25 pounds and everything but my stomach got smaller due to the distention caused by the fibroids. Vanity aside, I also found out that I'm extremely anemic, which explains my utter exhaustion over the past year or so. I've been taking iron pretty faithfully in order to get my blood numbers up to the safety point. I'm nervous about surgery, as my only other experience was a tonsilectomy when I was 16. It was a bad experience, as the doctor did not wait for the anesthesia to kick in before cutting! I am working really hard to get my house ready for my recuperation, have lined up friends and family to help me. One question: what's the most comfortable post-myo clothing, especially underwear? I don't want to wear nightgowns for weeks, but I don't think I'll want to wear jeans either.
