, just them you do not work, no more explanation is necessary on that

point. Now do you use a cane to walk with or a walker? If its a cane I don't

think they will bother with that aspect of your ability to walk. Now I must

face that same thing next year in November but I use a walker. They might

ask me to do a driving test you just don't know. Florida being a heavy

populated area of seniors they just might ask me to do that. My mother-in-law

who

83 and uses a cane went though with no problem. You know sometimes I think

its just the type of day those office personal are having. Here we have to

make an appointment or wait in a long line. Perhaps just before noon would be

a good time to go, you know maybe their anxious to go eat!! LOL........Flora

,

I never had anyone at DMV ask me about where I worked or even if I worked.

My advice to you would be to say that you're a 'stay at home Mom', or

'retired', or whatever--but there's no need to call yourself 'disabled' to

them. If the question is 'where do you work', 'disabled' is not a place, so

that shouldn't be an appropriate nor necessary answer.

Several years ago I took a test in North Carolina to get a license. The

lady called me up from the back row of seat/desks where I was sitting. I

got up, knocked over a few desks, hobbled up with my cane to where she was

sitting looking over my application. She looked up at me and asked: " Any

disabilities? " I said: " No " and got my license.

Hi ,

Sorry I haven't posted in a long while, but in answer to your question,

I agree with Dolores. There should be NO reason for them to ask such a

question. When I got my license 2 yrs ago, in KY, I filled out the

papers and truthfully I don't remember anything remotely close being

asked and I didn't even have time to sit down before they took my mug

shot. I was in and out in less that 10 minutes. It took that long for

them to develop the picture and plastic coat the darn thing.

Two weeks ago, I renewed my D.L. and had the same questions and feelings

as you. I even went in with my scooter. No questions asked and my

licensed was renewed. I wear glasses for close work and I feared I

would have to get my licensed renewed with glasses as a requirement.

Passed my eye sight with no problems. A lot of worry for nothing. Hope

this helps.

Dreaded DMV...

Hi friends..Ok I have a question...I have to go to the dreaded

bureau of motor vehicles in a few weeks to have a new mug shot

[driver's license]. When they ask where you work, DO you tell them, I

am disabled or say you are not employed? I never did like going there.

I am now MORE nervous, knowing my walking is so noticeable, I don't

want to raise the red flags about my ability to drive. I know I can

ask you all anything, so give me your BEST ADVICE....hugs, in

Ohio.

, I renewed in May (TN). I use two forearm canes and

they never gave me a second look. In fact, the girl who took

my mug shot told me I didn't have to go sit down as it would

be ready in a couple of minutes. I think you're worrying

needlessly.

---, I don't know about your State, but here in Washington State

they didn't ask me who I work for, but they are stricked if you come

in with a walking device though. The last time I got mine I walked

in with a cane and I knew what I was going to say before I got there

as the ones here can be butts. When he asked me why I was using the

cane i told him that I had pls, and my Dr. advised me to use it so

I could strengthen my legs. He said next time I may have to take a

drivers test. It just depends on your office and I really believe

how they are feeling that day. Carolyn In PLS-

Danny, in the state of Florida they are requiring all people in the next few

years to get a new drivers license in Florida and update our photos. Its a

new card that cannot (so they say) be duplicated. If you look at my photo

which is 15 years old because I have renewed on line

looks nothing like me now. I only wish I still looked like

that!!...................Sorry Danny but are you new to PLS Friends I don't

think I've seen

you post.......................Flora

In Texas you can renew online for most folks. As long

as you are not delinquent with outstanding tickets or

are otherwise in trouble with the law. You might see

if they have online renewal as an option. Danny
