Guest guest
I received an email from an 18 yr old girl in Australia a few days ago. She is quite depressed over her current weight (270lbs) and has approached her doctor and her mother about gastric bypass surgery. Both laughed at her, which depressed her even more. She had been reading my website and wrote to me for advice. Wow, how to advise her?......I told her to get as much information on this surgery as possible and then to give that information to her Mom. And also to get really real with her Mom and let her know how much it hurts to be the way she is. If she convinces her mother, her mother can be her best advocate with the doctor. Plus, she needs to be fully educated before deciding on this surgery also. I am a firm believer that everyone should know everthing about this surgery and the possible complications beforehand. I would assume that at 18, she has no chance of getting the surgery without her mother's approval, and without her mother's insurance's approval. So, she does have a predicament to overcome. Anybody else have any advice for this young girl? I really feel for her. I know what it was like to be 18 and obese and picked on constantly. She sounds quite depressed because no one will listen to her. Chrissie shihtzumom@...
