I just found out yesterday that my years of heavy bleeding & pain are being caused by a golf ball size fibroid in my uterus. We were scared it was a tumor of some sort, possibly malignant. I am really glad this is " all " that it is. I am being referred to a GYN for treatment of my fibroid on MON. I have some general questions: What is the most common removal process for a single fibroid? After it is removed, do the pain & heavy bleeding go away? Is having a fibroid considered " serious " ? Can it develop into something worse? I am totally freaked out over this, although not as much as I was before I found out what it was, but my husband really doesn't know how to react. Is it bad? Is it " no big deal " ? Is it something to be considered middle of the road serious? Thanks in advance & I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the group.
