Guest guest
I think you should wait for your test results before changing any thing. You are still on a pretty low dose of thyroid. It does not correct itself quickly. Ear ringing is one of the things that seems to hang on forever for the people that have it. If your tests show you to still be hypo an increase would be much better than stopping. Hypothyroid WILL ruin your life if not take it if it is untreated or undertreated. It does not go away, or get better by itself. I often experience the swollen lymph nodes all around that area, I really think that is an autoimmune flare up. I take aspirin and more thyroid and that seems to end it quicker than anything. Hang in there. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
I am starting to have second thoughts of the Thyroid meds.I have not received my results since upping my meds to 90mgs.I however have upped them to 60mgs twice a day.I went very hypo from the switch.I am no longer freezing to death. But I can't get rid of the ringing ear part .I have small swollen lyphmnode glands under my chin. They became swollen and sore almost 3 months ago and they are only pea size now and no longer hurt but will not go away either.Iam wondering if I am not giving things a chance with the thyroid meds and I am still low or one who may not able to take the meds.I am anxious about all this and wondering if I should continue on or throw the towel in and say I tried......... Guest guest
>>I had RAI done 11 years ago can I still have these flare ups you are talking about << I don;t see why not if you have autoimmune thyroid disease. As they destroyed some or all of your gland, if there is ANY of it still functioning it can still be attacked by antibodies. Guest guest
>>My thyroid is no longer functioning at all..Betty<< Then I would say what you are feeling is hypo symptoms. Full replacement is usually between 3-5 grains Armour a day, you are way below what you need to function properly. Guest guest
I think swollen glands are directly related to tonsil & adenoids being removed at a young age. Tell me, just for curiosity sake, did you have yours out at a young age (say under 8 years old)? I think the job in the immune system for the tonsils (maybe adenoids too) is to catch bacterial that is headed down our throats before it can enter the system. With them gone, the glands in the neck seem to catch virus & bacterial infections more than they should have to otherwise. Just my own little theory, as I have swollen gland more than not and I have known friends that HAD tonsils & adenoids still that had no problems with theirs. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Guest guest
Yep! Tonsillectomy, here, before 18 months old, here. Mono by 16y/o. MS by 28y/o. (only child at 41 y/o; daughter.w/ NLD/Asperger's.) Carcinoma, trachea 46y/o. Severely accelerated aging over the past several years. Researching thyroid and hormonal help before I start taking (need not to accelerate the cancer.) More hope from this list than ...gosh! can't remember when! Thanks Re: second thoughts I think swollen glands are directly related to tonsil & adenoids being removed at a young age. Guest guest
>>when you gonna put MD behind your name, gal?<< Hahahaha I already have several friends that call me DOC VAL.. and several dog breeders that were amazed how I could clear problems in their kennels with very simple measures. I SHOULD have been a medical researcher. Had I not had thyroid disease so young probably would have been. When I took college entrance exams I got the highest score they had seen (At Cal-Poly Tech in CA) in six years, and that with a 10th grade education. But I was on my own by the age of 15 and had to support myself, so college wasn't in the picture. I have often wished I had JUST a tad of family support to see what would have happened, but it wasn't meant to be. SO Instead I hang out on Internet lists and offer up my theories for what they're worth. Sometimes I think I have helped some people. That's enough for me. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Guest guest
Mine were out at the age of 18, since they were staying so infected (allergies). Moved to the Gulf Coast a yr later and the allergies are even more rampant down here. That was 34 yrs ago, I'm still here, and I have constant swollen glands under the jaw line and neck, plus always thyroid swelling at the same time this is going on. Every single time I get a cold or anything, this happens for wks on end. They're swollen right now, and it's driving me crazy. I feel better in every other way.
