Hello -

I just wanted to drop a note of introduction. . .

We just banded my son, , on Feb 28, at 8 mos old. I was a bit

hesitant, but as many have commented I would never question a

decision to get braces, so this is 'the same' . . .

In our brief time of wearing it, we have seen great results - I am

excited about that! Seeing the good results posted here, I am even

more encouraged about the process!

It is awesome to be able to look at all the pictures and most of all -

to see the smiles of all these beautiful babies wearing their bands.

I am learning every day that the banding bothers me - but

could really care less about it!

Yes, people may stare - - - and ask stupid questions - - - and

sometimes I respond with a quick answer - like " he's the newest NFL

recruit - or - he's in training to replace Lance Armstrong. Sometimes

I respond with a more in depth response and use it as an " educational

time " . . . .

My dear 4 year old informed me that she wanted to take to

preschool for show and tell - - - that made me giggle - - - so I had

to ask her what she would do...So, she told me to sit down and she

would tell me. . . . So, I followed her instructions - and with

sitting on her lap - she says - " now kids this is my brother

- do you have any questions? "

Well, since I was role-playing the student part, I asked a few basic

questions - how old? what's his name, etc? Then the dialogue went

like this:

Me/Mom: " What's that on his head "

Beth/Daughter: " It's a helmet "

Me/Mom: What's he wearing it for?

Beth/Daughter: " Well, the dr wanted him too "

Me/Mom: " Why? "

Beth/Daughter: (very matter of factly stated) " BECAUSE " his

sister, Alli, keeps hitting him in the head and pushing him over.

(Alli is s twin sister)

At this point, (after laughing), I really just wanted to hug all my

kids! How precious innocent, and how serious she was. . . she never

gave any thought that there was any other reason for him to wear it.

I just had to share this giggle with you and say that I am glad to

have found this group. I will post some pictures of my little guy

( J) soon.

Warmest Blessing To You All!

Sally
