Guest guest
Yep, it's like an out of body expierience to me sometimes when I take it. You are right, you body can feel so tired but mentally you are wide awake. When the body has energy though, then both do and it's better. That's not very often though considering you are taking it when you start to feel bad to keep you going. But if I have the choice to only have my body feel tired while I'm driving and my brain can focus and stay awake, then I'll take it. Guest guest
I HAD to take it for a period of time because I was falling asleep at the wheel driving into work. To the point I went off the road a couple of times. My doc told me if I didn't try the Provigil she would have to have my license pulled because I was becoming a danger. I don't know what was causing me to drop off like that, but every so often when I have to be to work for 8 a.m. it will happen again. I get up at 5:15 to be to work for 8 because I need that time just to get myself together. When my hours were changed while I had a helper at work (she was fired), I went in at 10 a.m. and had no problems. I also noticed that some days I would get extremely tired but I could go back to bed for a half hour or so. So basically.... I always have some Provigil on hand, but I do my very best not to take it. Guest guest
Tigger, When do you take your thyroid and how much are you taking? I ask as I used to have times of the day I could NOT stay awake. Mine was a T3 slump when I flat ran out of it. Now I don;t think I have been converting at all for at least 7 years, so I think that was when it happened to me. Now that I take my meds four times a day I no longer have those times. Used to be like clockwork I could count on being asleep at 3 PM no matter what I was doing! *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
I take everything first thing in the morning. I sit on the couch, have my decaf, take my meds, then have a protein shake..... I can't eat in the morning either. I also get that 3 o'clock slump too. I've just started taking 3 grains of Armour and 5mg of Delta. I worked up to 3 grains. When this was happening, however, I was not on any thyroid med. Hoping this problem will solve itself. Val, I have to laugh when I see the bottom of your posts. I have a beautiful 9 year old black cat. I didn't notice how big she was until I found a 8 week old black cat in the dumpster at work. The kitten weighs all of 3 pounds and the older cat seems so big. Having the kitten around has been great for her because they chase each other around the house. Too funny! Guest guest
I think you will find if you take even a small amount of your meds later in the day, like noon to 3 PM you will not be as tired during the slump times. That was IT for me. If you do not convert well and many of us don't, you will run out of T3 about 5 hours after your AM dose. The half life is 4 hours for T3 from what I have read so it is declining after that. I actually feel when mine drops off and it reminds me to take my next dosage! I also cannot eat in the mornings. It has made me physically ill all my life to eat anything before 10 or later. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
I agree with this ! I asked my Dr about splitting my meds up and he, of coarse, said that I didn't need to do this, but if I don't, I get that afternoon " slump " . HE told me that I can't split it up because he is giving me the 90 mg's in one whole pill. From what I have read, it is important to keep from getting that " slump " to divide the meds up during the day. Kathy Re: Re: (LaCretia) CURRENT HORMONAL EXPERIENCE is interesting... Guest guest
LOL Well, I got one and I am using it! The only thing is, since the pills are not scored, you will need to split the pill only when you are going to use it the same day to make sure that you get the same half that day. Unscored pills means that the medication in it is not distributed evenly, from what I have been told. Kathy Re: Re: (LaCretia) CURRENT HORMONAL EXPERIENCE is interesting... Guest guest
>>Unscored pills means that the medication in it is not distributed evenly, from what I have been told.<< That makes no sense. If they have a batch of liquid which is them poured into molds to form pills it MUST be uniform to make all the pills uniform as they certainly do not make a separate batch for each pill. Same thing if they compress powder into capsules or pills it must be uniform to begin with to pass uniformity codes. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
it doesn't make sense to me. Armour 3 grain tabs are scored, so I don't think they would make these from a separate batch. Lynda (in the UK) Re: Re: (LaCretia) CURRENT HORMONAL EXPERIENCE is interesting... I don't know, but in the chewable heartworm pills for dogs, you are not to cut them in half and share them. They say that they medication is placed in the middle and it is not the exact same amount on both sides. This is just what I have always been told. Unscored pills, means that you are not to break them in half. Scored pills means that the medication is equally distributed on both sides of the pill. That is why some are scored and some are not. Anyone else know of this? Kathy
Guest guest
Same here. I would dose off either while driving in or driving home. It got me scared. I'm like you, I only take it when I need to. It does get me home though..thanks goodness for that! I haven't had to take it now in about a week. That's pretty good! Guest guest
Yeah, I had to take my Armour twice a day. Still didn't keep me awake though. Once I got adrenal support, I can stay awake all day and up until 10pm which is good for me since I get up at 4:50am to go to work. I only have crashes every now and then to deal with now. Guest guest
In most cases you are right...it does help. For me it didn't because my adrenals were exhausted. I knew this but couldn't get a doctor to run a test for me. I changed doctors and it didn't show up immediatly on the tests. The symptoms came first and eventually when they got really bad, it showed up on my blood work. I kept telling the doctor that there was something else going on. I could get all the thyroid medication I wanted...even got hyper symptoms but still had the fatigue, salt cravings, muscle weakness, and nausea. I couldn't eat and it wasn't normal for me. I would get nausea so bad that the thought of food would give me the dry heaves. > >I agree with this ! I do take DHEA and have for about 7 years and I eat sea salt and do salt baths. I believe this is all the adrenal support I need. When I was in first grade if I wanted to stay home from school, I would give in to my Mom & eat breakfast. Immediately I would throw it up & she would let me stay home from school! I doubt at 7 years old I had adrenal problems! LOL *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes?
