Guest guest
I'm your age and also went with the abdominal myo for this reason. I was taken aback to discover after the operation that the few fibroids I had with the larger fibroid mass were left in me. It may be that there are sound medical reasons for this, in the light of your wantin children. You may find that you have fibroids again in the future, although it isn't always the case. The operation isn't as bad as you might think. My horizontal scar is hidden by brief knickers and is thin and faint at only 4 months post op. When it's really had a chance to fade it'll just look like a skin crease line. Aztek ________________ > Hi, I just discovered this group and have already got some great > information. Guest guest
I had a myo for 15 fibroids 4 years before trying to get pregnant. I had a lot grow back 3 years later. I got married this past April and, knowing I had multiple large fibroids, decided against another myo and just decided to try to get pregnant. My doctor also recommended the same since I already had the prior surgery to my uterus. I got pregnant very quickly, but not all women with fibroids do. So, you do have another option which is to do nothing about the fibroid and try to get pregnant. I am not giving you advice either way, just letting you know that you can choose not to have the myo and see what happens. I am 28 weeks pregnant, have had a lot of problems with my fibroids and pregnancy, but would not choose myo at this time. I am even going to try to get pregnant soon after this without a myo if my doctor says it's ok. It's such a tough decision. Either way, the second opinion is a must. And, if you feel you need a third, go for a third! Good luck.
Guest guest
Where is yours located? I just found out about mine a little over week ago. It's the size of an orange on the top part of my uterus and there is a lot of pressure on my bladder. I have to pee a lot. I will go and then have to go 20 minutes later and it's always very urgent. I was going to wait and try to do some alternative medicine but I am have decided to have the myo. (Jan 7th) My doctor said I should definitely still be able to have a baby but would have to have a c section which is fine with me. Guest guest
Thanks for your responses. Because of the size (luckily it's just one) my Doctor feels that getting pregnant without removing it would cause too many problems. She also feels that because of the location, if I get pregnant without removing it, it may cause too much stress on my uterus and strain on my bladder. For now, my surgery is scheduled for February. Until then I will keep researching and seeking opinions. Thoughts from others are greatly appreciated. My biggest concern is being able to conceive after the myo. Thanks M My doctor also recommended the same since I already had the > prior surgery to my uterus. I got pregnant very > quickly, but not all women with fibroids do. Guest guest
Actually your email reminds me, have you seen that commercial for that prescription drug where there are women out golfing and one takes off in the golf cart because she's got an overactive bladder. The thing that bothers me about that advert is that I know from the stories I've read here that many women with fibroids have this problem but it is a physical problem and not just an overactive bladder. The unfortunate thing is that people see ads like this and go and ask their doctor for that medication. Some doctors don't do enough testing to see what the problem is and they might just prescribe it to " try it out and and see if that helps fix the problem " . Of course it would be hard to have a bladder control problem and then get the diagnosis of uterine fibroids but I personally would rather know that I was treating the problem and not just masking it. For your reference (in case you would like to yell at them *smile*) here is their website: http://www.ditropanxl.com/ > It's the size of an orange on the top part of my uterus and there is a lot of pressure on my bladder. Guest guest
What is the size and location of your fibroid? I have one large fibroid measuring 6.5cm and I plan to try to conceive in February/March; as of now, I have decided against surgery. > My doctor also recommended the same since I already had the > > prior surgery to my uterus.
