Guest guest
I read Dr. Peat's article & am having a huge problem with getting enough protein as he suggests is essential as lack of enough of it inhibits thyroid & slows the metabolism. I can't eat soy which I was relying on for so long. So that's out the door. I can't eat eggs, milk, cheese either because of Candida problems & allergies. I haven't eaten any red meat or pork in ages because of Candida also. It's hard to digest & I've read so much about all the hormones & steroids & such in the meat. I can't eat tuna or other fish because of the mercury toxcicity either. I do eat some chicken (turkey's too hard to deal with too) & have been relying on that a whole lot because I like it. But it's got hormones in it too & isn't enough " muscle " protein, sayeth Dr. Peat. I can't get natural range chickens or organic meat around here either so that's out. I take amino acids but he says not to take supplements except Vitamin E. Tho I'm taking others anyway & they're causing me acid reflux problems & stomach trouble so had to greatly reduce taking those. Amino acids are supposed to be taken on an empty stomach which tears it up in there for me. He suggest potatoes have protein so eat lots of those I guess. But then I've also read where potatoes & other root veggies are very bad for arthritis as they nightshade veggies. So I quit eating those too a while back. I'm still eating only high protein type grains..barley, buckwheat groats, quinoa & beans & lentils. But Dr. Peat those don't have enough protein in them either so meats & dairy are needed in abundance. So what's a mother to do? Where can I get my necessary protein? I've read that amino acids are the building blocks of life so I need them as protein in foods for bones, muscles & tissues. I'm still taking 2 capsules of amino acids twice a day with meals. But that's not enough & it's not in food form.
