Guest guest
Hi all, I saw my gynecologist today, and I'm still borderline anemic after three months on the pill. He sent me off to think about having my single ~8-10cm subserosal fibroid removed. He suggested UAE or myomectomy (possibly laproscopic). I'm almost 37 and don't plan to have any more children. My gyn is referring me for testing to another ob/gyn who specializes in blood coagulation disorders, since I seem to have a history of bleeding problems: I bruise easily, until recently I thought big menstrual clots were normal, and I hemorrhaged and had a haematoma that necessitated a transfusion after the otherwise normal birth of my baby. I've already tested negative for von Willebrand's. So my question, until I have the bloodwork done, goes to anyone out there who has a blood coagulation disorder. How did that impact your approach to treating your fibroids? From what I've read, it sounds like if I do have clotting problems, UAE isn't even an option; but I'm also worried about the amount of bleeding involved with a myomectomy. Thanks for any thoughts, --Liz
