I strongly recommend you find a doctor who will put you on Armour. And I imagine you will only get worse without thryoid replacement. Keep in mind that untreated hypo can cause permanent damage to the central nervous system (your brain!) and cause heart disease and all sorts of other unpleasant things. HAve your doctor check your Free T3 and Free T4 thyroid hormone levels and treat you with Armour. Get your Free T3 in the upper part of the range or slightly over and your Free T4 in the mid to high range. Cindi

Guest guest
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Theresa, 37. After 7 years of infertility a reproductive endo dg me as hypo in January 2002. She px Synthroid. At the time (other than infertility) the only symptoms I had of hypo was cold intolerance, fatigue, weakness, course hair (sometimes falling out in tub), muscle cramps, depression, irritability and decreased libido. Ok now after reading all that I guess I shouldn't have said only:-) I was on Synthroid until last January 2004. I found another endocrinologist who said I should be taking Levoxyl and px 75 MCG a day.. He told me in June that my TSH was fine but that I had Hashimoto's Disease and that just to continue with the Levoxyl.. Unfortunately I have alot of stress in my life right now that is just abnormal for one person to handle and during the month of August I noticed it had been 2 weeks since I took it. I decided to call the dr to see if it was ok to take again or come in first to have my blood drawn. Well, here it is in December...with an addition to our house, a toddler, temporarily living in an apartment, stay at home mom to a toddler, family in PA, mom in nursing home in PA..that is just the icing on the cake. My appt isn't until January. I was wondering if anyone else has ever quit cold turkey and if they can tell me the side effects they had, I do notice my coldness returning, depression, hair getting course again, mood swings...granted I have a lot of stress, but am starting to wonder how to get a better control on my thyroid and what effect this is adding to my stress... Please let me know if there is any advice you can give... Thanks Theresa
Guest guest
First were you able to conceive on either Levoxyl or Synthroid? If you were then it likely corrected your thyroid insufficiency, if you were not you need to ask, no demand to try Armour Thyroid. It corrects so many problems that you may not even be aware of being hypo symptoms. The symptoms you have are definitely hypo things, and once you need thyroid meds, 99% of us need them for life. I would get back on them as soon as possible. The longer you remain hypo the more damage it does to your body. Artistic Grooming Hurricane, West Virginia -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
If you have Hashi's, then what you have is autoimmune. Therefore, your dr should be looking at FreeT3, FreeT4, and not TSH. Sounds to me like you need to be taking something, instead of just going off thyroid meds cold turkey. One of the ladies I met at the beauty shop I went to started Armour, after stopping her Synthroid, because in her words " it wasn't doing anything to help me " . I told her about armour and everybody noticed a difference in her and how she looked and felt. I took Armour, but now am on Naturethroid which is it's equivalent. Guest guest
Actually it takes 6 - 8 weeks for your body to use up all the T4 it has stored up. That's why you should wait 6 - 8 weeks to get a blood test after changing your meds and or dosage. I read that your body doesn't even the effect of the pill you take today for 10 days. (I'm thinking that just applies to the T4.) Guest guest
That's why I'm increasing the thyrolar I am taking. I am thinking about getting some naturethroid too. (Not switching meds. Just additional meds.) It's hard cos 2 years ago today my dad passed away and 4 weeks ago today I lost Snot. The 2 will always be tied together. I was about ready to burst into tears at work yesterday. So instead of Thyrolar 1 1/2 I'm taking Thyrolar 2. Guest guest
First thing is that you have to remember to take your thyroid hormone. It's not something that you put down, then resume later. You have to take it the rest of your life, every single day at regular intervals, whichever treatment you're taking, or all your symptoms will return again. The thyroid cannot repair itself, but, at one time when healthy, it ran every single cell in your body. That's a lot of work for a body organ, so you can see how important it tis to take your hormone. I'm not a fan of T4 synethetics. I felt miserable on them, and I take Armour or Naturethroid now, which has both T3 and T4 in it, natural porcine thyroid glandular. Here, we're talking about the type of treatment. Formerly, the fact that you must take the hormone every day for the rest of your life. New with some questions > > > I would like to introduce myself. My name is Theresa, 37.
