Guest guest
Thanks , If both girls had tort why did Kiersten's need more time to resolve before banding? CT didn't say anything about working with tort longer. His PT says his tort is mild, about 15 degrees but who knows, right. Does the band hinder the ability to do stretches/exercises? I think we will band soon, but I was just curious about your situation. We did start the insurance process. I am always so encouraged to see " tort resolved " . I actually am much more stressed about the tort than plagio. I know there is a fix for the plagio but sometimes I worry the home stretching and PT won't be enough. How much do they charge for the 2nd band if needed? I forgot to ask. Our ins. (United Healthcare) has a poor track record with DOC. But that is not a factor for us, thankfully. It looks like Kiersten had hers on for only a couple weeks longer, is that right? Thanks for your help with all the questions. Bobbi 5 mos. left tort and plagio PHX Bobbi, > Your son has similar measurements to my two girls. na started at 11 mm cva and 9 mm ears while Kiersten started at 10 mm cva and 8 mm ears. So their ears were more involved and you could see it in their faces (especially in hindsight). With na we banded at 4 1/2 months. However, with Kiersten we banded at 7 months. We had to get her tort under control. If you really don't think the repo is going to work or you just can't do it 24/7 due to whatever constraint AND you are not happy with his head hsape then go for it now. If you want to try everything possible to avoid the band then repo for another 4 weeks. The AAP does recommend repo attempts until 6 months. It's a really personal decision. 6 months (probably 6 1/2-7 months when banded) is still a great time to start treatment. I would start the insurance and approvals process now cause that can take 4 weeks. > > > na, DOC Grad X2 Feb 04, Tort Resolved > Kiersten, DOC Grad 4/4/06, Tort Resolved > www.thefilyaws.com/plagio/plagio.html My son is 5 mos. and we went for our eval at CT. The PT said that his facial assym is not much at all. And his head is not " too bad " . His measurements were about 4 mm on all the face assym. and 10 mm on the head. She said not to only go by measurements > because they are hard to get accurately. > > > > She said it was almost more brachy than plagio. She also said he was still young enough that I could try the repo for another 4 weeks and then make a decision. It was weird that she didn't really > push the band on us. I don't think the repo will do anything, he is way to strong and active. I keep him off his back except sleep. The only thing that might help is that he just started rolling onto > his side at night but it isn't consistent yet. > > > > He wasn't diagnosed with tort and plagio until 4 mos. and no one > > ever told me about repo until I started research. I don't think > it will get worse now that I am aware, but I don't think it will get any better. I guess I want to know what the veterans would do. > > Would you band? > > I know it is a personal decision but I just thought I would ask. I know most of the pros and cons. Husband and I are just thinking > it over for a couple weeks since she said it was early enough. She thought he would take about 8 weeks. Thanks in advance. > > Bobbi H. > > son to 5 months April 10 > > Phoenix
