trust me...the breast tenderness is not from the Armour. It may be from

changes in your body as the hypo starts to go away - but it is not from Armour.

The depression and lack of motivation are hypo symptoms.

I think sometimes that what some people think is Estrogen Dominance is low

thyroid hormone. I think that low thyroid hormone causes all your hormones to

go out of whack. I think that it's most important to get the right levels of

thyroid hormone before you can get the other things right.

I do not think 1/4 grain of Armour is having that much of an effect on your

body. That is hardly anything.

You have to have enough thyroid hormone to even conceive and also to carry

the baby. Miscarriages are common in low thyroid folks.

What I encourage you to do is to have your doctor run a Free T4 and Free T3

blood test on you so you know exactly what you're dealing with as far as your

thyroid hormones.

a person usually starts with 1/2 grain or one grain. Usually you stay on

that about two weeks and if hypo symptoms are still there, you raise by another

1/2 grain. Most people go 2 to 4 weeks before upping. Once you get to 3

grains, you go much slower and usually only up by 1/4 grain.

Some people split the dose immediately. I recommend feeling good in the

morning and all with enough Armour, before adding the afternoon dose.

But the breast tenderness came after I started taking the Armour.

And I did have my female hormones tested.

I'm not sure where I should be on the Armour.

Yesterday I was miserably depressed.

I can't motivate myself to exercise and I need to.

I think this happens as your body begins to wake up after running in too

slow mode for a while. Estrogen dominance is very common in hypothyroid

people. The only way to find your correct dosage of Armour is to very slowly

raise your dosage till you feel good. By slowly I mean 1/2 grain every 3-4

weeks. When at any 4 week mark you feel your hypo symptoms gone, stay on

that dosage and you should be fine. In the meantime, maybe some progesterone

cream would help with the estrogen dominance symptoms.

Can the Armour influence or increase the Estrogen dominance?

Because that is when the breast tenderness, weight, appetite etc...

increased.

I am so scared to continue on this stuff. I feel like its making my

body go

out of control.

Has anyone heard of Theresa Dale? Has anyone tried her protocol?

Out of fear I am considering going the homeopathic route.

I haven't had children yet and am afraid of what the added hormones,

thyroid will/can do.

I'm sorry but this has been quite an unpleasant experience, quite

opposite of what I was told it would be. And I'm a bit uncomfortable

with

the idea that there can be a chance that the hormones and thyroid can

be harming my body.

I'm afraid that when I want to get off the Armour and cream that I'll

immediately

fall into a downward spiral because I had trained my body to become

dependant on the Armour and progesterone. I think if I were feeling

better and

not depressed and eating so much that I wouldn't be so concerned.

How does dosing with Armour work? When do you increase your dose, how?

or by how much? Do you take it two times a day. I'm supposed to take

mine

right now but I really don't want to.

I'm also not at the point where I'm motivated to restart exercising yet either.

It's too painful & I'm often too tired/exhausted to do so as I've got myself,

this house & all the other routine stuff everyone has to do to take care of that

takes all my energy, time & money & no help with it. I think I will feel more

like exercising again after I get on a higher Armour dosage.

It takes time. I'm not pushing myself. I'm resting & that's what I need right

now. I've been pushing myself too much & burning myself out for years &

years...enough is enough already yet...it's rest time now...at least for a while

until I feel better...even if all I do everyday is eat, sleep & pay the bills &

that's it.

Breast tenderness & pain...I cured that in myself using evening primrose oil &

black currant oil. It's all gone now.

How can you possibly think that NOT taking the hormones your body is crying out

for will help you? You're talking about your natural hormonal needs as if they

were addictive drugs or something. They are NOT that at all.

You should not deny it what it needs if it's not manufacturing them itself for

whatever reason. We need to take the extra hormones to " normalize " us...not make

us sicker or " addicted' which NOT taking them will definitely do. Because if you

do not take them then your doctors will want you to take truly addictive drugs

you will become dependant on & addicted to...like anti-depressants & pain

medications.

When my sister was hypothyroid after her 2nd birth to a girl, she had to hunt

for a docor that knew his thyroid from his ars-hol. She finally found one who

put her on Armour & a year later she was normal again & hasn't taken any since &

doesn't have any hypoT symptoms that I could ever notice or that she ever

complained of.

Tho she's 69yo now & may need some now & not know it which I think is the case

for her in her older aging process. But the point was she took the natural

thyroid untill she was completely well & her own thyroid began to function

properly again. She was only in her 20s then tho...so was diagnosed & prescribed

for immediately & correctly which isn't the case with the rest of us

long-suffering wounded ones.

So take the hormones, my dear, you'll be way better for it & be grateful you

started to. You'll regret it later if you don't. It's what your body needs.

Listen to your body & give it what it needs.

I'll let the other experienced, knowledgeable veterans here tell you about how

to dose yourself, etc. I'm too new at this to be advising anyone except to

*take* it & stop worrying so much. It will give you *more* control, not put your

body out of control which it sounds like it already is. Get your control

back...take the Armour & Progesterone. Why be out of control when you can get

your control back?

i think maybe this needs to be clarified. Armour does not cause breast

tenderness...in other words, it is not a side effect of Armour. But treating

one's

hypothyroid condition will cause changes in the body as it normalizes....and

breast tenderness from hormones returning to normal if they were abnormal may

happen.

My breasts were tender and got enlarged also. It passed. I thought it was

because the armour initially 'sitrred up' my hormones. I then started on the

natural progesterone cream too. I think this is something that goes

unrecognized, and maybe since it happens in the beginning of treatment, and

doesn't last that long, people don't associate it with the armour. Or, maybe

only a few people have this reaction. But I remember it very well!

You sound like me now - (depressed and totally unmotivated to do anything) and I

know that I need to increase my armour.
