It is my opinion this is just something that can happen with hypothyroidism. Despite us taking thyroid hormone, hypo is an altered metabolic state...and sometime things just don't always run totally smooth. I think we're more prone to drowsiness and fatigue and depression for instance. Yes, I think it will go away. In the meantime, listen to your body and take a nap. Guest guest
Hi Everyone! Has anyone had this problem? I have been on meds for 5 months, 10 weeks Armour. Armour made a change immediately within a few days, feeling better for 2 months. Now I have the extreme drowsiness back for about 4 days now. Anyone else have this? Does it go away or what? Dr seems not to know what the deal is. Calls me a hard case, don't know. Says try less meds, but doesn't make sence because the current meds is the first time I've felt better. My average temps are 98.3 daytime (normal 98.6), 97.7 waking (normal 97.8-98.2). TSH before meds 6.9 after synthroid 2 months - 3.04 FT3 - 325, FT4 1.4 5 months on meds .01, FT3 - 535 (230-420), FT4 1.9 (.8-1.8) On 1 grain Armour + 37.5 synthroid each day. Order TSH/FT3/FT4 again, why a week later? Thought these numbers didn't change for weeks? Along with FSH, Prolactin, Estradiol, Progesterone, Cortisol F (urine), Thanks,

Free T3 over the top does not give many of us trouble, but most the Free T4 is in range. I would lose the Synthroid and add 30 more MG Armour. If that doesn't work, maybe try the other way, as in 75mcg Synthroid & 1/2 grain Armour? *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
>>Why is that having high T3 is ok, but not T4?<< Probably because the test ranges are not where they should be. They get the range from testing a group of people in that area and average for a " normal " range, but as many people are hypo and NOT recognized as such, they may well be figuring them into that average range they call " normal " . There are also swings of high and lows throughout the day in healthy people's T3 levels... T3 should be higher in the AM or at least that is what I have read as per taking meds.. always take a higher dosage in the morning then less later on, as that simulates the body's own hormone output were it working correctly. That is what prompted me to break my own dosages up into smaller more often, so I could simulate natural hormone release as much as is possible. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
Forgot the other part... The T4 as it is a storage hormone, kind of sits there in the blood till T3 is needed then in a proper working body, it is converted to T3 on an as needed basis making it's levels much more predictable and constant. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Guest guest
One more question, . DO you take all your meds in the morning? if so you might try breaking that dosage up. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
Did it turn very cold where you are? If it did, that may be what it has to do with, as vitamin D is lacking during this time, with not much sun. Also, there seems to be a lot of evidence that we may need more thyroid hormone during the cold winter months, but don't ask me how much more, I just don't know. Our own healthy thyroids used to bring it up and down naturally from signals from the hypothalamus to the pituitary to step it up and down, but of course, it can't do that much any more. Just throwing that out there. 2 months on Armour feel better, then bad again? > > > Hi Everyone! > > Has anyone had this problem? I have been on meds for 5 months, 10 > weeks Armour. Guest guest
Sounds like your doctor is checking your Cortisol which could be low. I had the same problem of crashing from time to time and the doctor found my Cortisol was low. After adding Cortizone and Pregnelone, I was back to normal. She diagnosed me with Adrenal fatigue. I have never went completly without crashes. You try to control them and the most important thing is when they do occur, lay down and rest a little while...sometimes 15 mintues can allow you to bounce back and sometimes it may not work. Hope this helps.
