FSH is Follicle Stimulating Hormone...and gives you some indication of where

you are as to menopause...something about the status of your egg reserve. :)

The prolactin...hmmm...not sure.

I've had FSH, Estradiol, and I'm not sure about the others.

here:

FSH is a hormone secreted from the anterior pituitary gland. In the woman, FSH

stimulates production of ovarian follicles (eggs) and estradiol (another

reproductive hormone) during the first half of the menstrual cycle.

Normal Values

Male: 4 to 25 IU/L

a.. Female:

a.. Premenopausal: 5 to 30 IU/L

b.. Midcycle peak: 10 to 60 IU/L

c.. Pregnancy: low to undetectable

d.. Postmenopausal: Greater than 30 IU

Hi ,

The FSH has been answered, so I won't do that one. Prolactin is the hormone

that causes a body to create milk. Both men and women have it and it obviously

is most prevalent in women immediately after childbirth while they are breast

feeding. I don't recall what the normal numbers are, but I had problems with

lactation long before I ever got pregnant with my oldest son. I also still

lactate now, and my youngest is almost 3. I stopped nursing him when he was

about 8 months old when I dried up. But then it all started up again with no

apparent cause.

The Progesterone is tested to see where you are in your cycle. That and the FSH

tests are inetgral parts of fertility treatments. I went through that for a few

years too. Progesgterone is the hormone that causes your body to shed your

uterine lining at the end of your cycle and is usually the primary female

hormone in the last half of the cycle after ovulation. It is what sustains a

pregnancy also becuase it's the last half of the cycle that the unterine lining

builds up. If that is low it can cause some problems. But it is also the cause

of PMS symptoms. I have BAD pms, always have, among other things and my

progesterone has always been low. I'm not taking anything for it at the moment

only because I have never had much luck with the creams and don't want to take

provera. YUCK!!! That's just bad news.

Hope I helped.

Deb :-)
