Guest guest
Joyce...have you or her thought about getting some short term help for her self-esteem and also getting her involved in a volunteer group? The hospital maybe, the school? Love comes when you least expect it. Tell her to just enjoy her son and mom, and release the fear of being alone. Although some of us were married when we found out about nf, it doesn't always make it easy....but many on the crew here are single and living a full life. Give her hugs... Carol losthorizon1@... Guest guest
Hi Joyce! Joyce, when you are on such a low dose of Armour, as the 60 mgs. was, and you were still having symptoms, it meant you were underdosed and need more Armour. Though your T4 may need improving, it was most likely your free T3 that was the problem!! It's a low T3 that causes the hair loss, the dry skin, etc. If you use labs, your goal on Armour is to get that free T3 at the top of the range, if not over. When you eventually get your free T3 at the top, your free T4 will usually be right around the middle. And, if your symptoms are gone, that's OK. And...once your get your free T3 at the top of the range, then you could consider adding T4, or not. But at least work with the Armour first, because as you increase your Armour, you are ALSO increasing your T4 anyway!! Armour is 80% T4. And........as you increase your Armour, you are also giving yourself MORE of the direct T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin. You won't get that if you start adding T4 to the mix now. Have you read the articles on the FILES? It's VERY important that you are informed in order to handle a doc who may not be, or for you to be a PARTNER in your treatment. Hope that helps.
