Just be patient. stay with the Armour. You will probably need more eventually. Are you splitting your dose? Cindi

I think it's mostly solid food in the stomach that causes the problem with absorption. I think your low T4 level is just because you need a higher dose of Armour. Some people here do add synthetic T4 to their daily dose, but we usually recommend they get their Armour dose higher first. Do you know your actual Free T4 lab value? Guest guest
I'm finally on Armour from Syntrhoid. All my body aches are gone. I feel much more alert and can actually carry on a conversation! My eyes don't hurt anymore! It's been a 180 degree change. I've been on it for about 55 days now. I just had some blood drawn and the tests came back indicating I needed more T4. The dr. upped my dosage of Armour from 60 mg to 90. We're going to try this for a couple more weeks. However, I am experiencing systems of hypothyroidism in that my hair is drying and thinning out, my skin is very dry, sleeping is a problem. I don't want to give up Armour, but can I mix it with Synthroid to up the T4. See when my levels showed fine and I was on Synthroid, my hair was fine. But I couldn't move, talk or live...go figure! Guest guest
Thank you so much for answering. No I take the 90 megs. only in the a.m. That prompts another question. It says not to eat with it, but is drinking coffee shortly after taking it ok? I start work at 6:00 a.m. so I'm taking the armour at 4:30. I really need a cup of coffee since it's so early. Guest guest
Hi Joyce; I went thru the exact same thing on synthroid. At present, I am taking 1 grain naturethroid, and I split a 25mcg of synthroid and take 12.5 mcg per day . So far, this is working great for me (although I know I can do better, I am probably nearing my optimal dose, so I'm going to go real slow). The first week I re-introduced even that miniscule amount of synthroid, I experienced brain fuzz, etc. Now, I'm used to it (probably the t3 and other hormones from naturethroid don't hurt!); and my hair and skin look the best that they've looked in years! So, yes, you definitely can combine. Sim > > I'm finally on Armour from Syntrhoid. All my body aches are gone. I > feel much more alert and can actually carry on a conversation! Guest guest
Joyce; If you start taking synthroid again to supplement the armour, you may want to try taking it after you eat, and at a later time. That was the only way I was able to tolerate synthroid. I suspect that synthroid can have a negative impact on insulin; which I never experienced with armour/naturethroid.
